Arum, Sulaiman trade barbs over Pacquiao-Marquez

Before Saturday’s welterweight championship fight between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, WBC President Jose Sulaiman said he saw little chance of Marquez winning the fight, which was for the belt of the rival WBO sanctioning body, and stated it would be “a miracle” if Marquez is victorious. After Marquez nearly pulled off the upset, Arum referred to Sulaiman as an “asshole” at the post-fight press conference.

In a press release issued today, Sulaiman issued the following statement:

Promoter Arum insulted me in the press with a swear that I wouldn’t dare to type out for respect specially to ladies. I think of Bob Arum is one of the greatest Promoters that my eyes have seen, but also that he has no class, has no idea of what a gentleman is, and if he would be subjected to an open heart surgery, the doctors would find no heart. I have tried all my life to be his friend, and have always supported him specially at his rough times, but unfortunately, he does not know either the meaning of that word. He just can’t help it.

Arum selected Juan Manuel Márquez as he thought that he was no threat to Manny Pacquiao, his multi billion ace; I also believed, as a boxing fan, that Marquez was at his age, not going to beat Pacquiao. but Marquez proved Arum and myself wrong, as he might not have beaten him for some, but he did not lose either; I am happy to accept it as it was a competitive fight good for boxing; Arum also is trying to sign the rematch, with his extraordinary sensitivity and keen perception and smell of where the love of his life, the color green. If he is really interested, it has to be in Mexico and nowhere else.

About 40 years ago, the immortal promoter George Parnassus told me: “José, if some day the Atomic bomb destroys the world and only Robert Arum and you remain on earth, don’t you dare to give him your back; Perhaps it took me this long to understand what my hero George Parnassus meant.

Things could be interesting this weekend in Houston where Top Rank is promoting a fight for the WBC middle

You can say what you want about Bob and his bullshit, but he's bang on about Sulaiman being an Asshole  Grin

Doesn't really give a reason as to why he called it him though considering they both gave Marquez next to no chance of a victory.

Haha, my thoughts exactly!

Both as bad as one another. The quicker these 2 leave the sport the better.
