Resume alone gets Tyson in, combined with the impact he has had on the sport and it's a no-brainer.

All depends on the criteria they use.
If its based on boxing then without a shadow of a doubt.

Youngest ever heavyweight champion
Arguably the most famous fighter of all time

just wondering it there another criteria besides what he did inside the ring?

he last fought in 2005 is he'll have to wait until at least 2010. i'd put money on it that he'll make the hall of fame!

I remember watching all of Tysons fights in the early days on ITV, my mom getting all excited, "dont blink or you will miss the fight". He brought everyone to the sport and deserves the accolade without doubt

Yes,  in another couple of years he will be there.
Can't see how not with all his achievements,  he was amazing to watch, until he lost the plot.

100% Deffo. 'Boxing Hall of Fame' says it all really. No doubt about it whatsoever.

His private life is not what is being acclaimed, its his boxing career & achievements of which he is one of the finest ever.

No you're right. He fought an awful lot in his early career. sometimes twice a month which is very impressive. When you look at is he's beaten as many tomato cans as anyone else despite his great 5 year unbeaten run. After that it wasn't so stirling a record. I'm not belittling his career but it was far from flawless and he's not beaten as many great fighters as lots of other great world champions have in the past.

Despite not defeating any true A-level opposition, Tyson has a large amount of wins over borderline top tier opposition and B level opponents, the sheer volume of good solid proffessionals on his resume should easily warrant entry in my opinion.

No disrespect to the man, but Floyd Patterson made it in to the Hall and I feel Tyson has a better record, so I would agree with you there.
