Ringside returns to Sky Sports this September.   The weekly magazine show used to be staple viewing for British fight fans and it will be great to see it once again.

From Sky Sports: "The one-hour magazine show will feature in-depth news, previews, interviews and expert analysis, offering Sky Sports viewers a greater focus on the world of boxing.

"Also in September, live boxing will return to Saturday nights, with every show available live and in high definition.

RINGSIDE - Every Thursday, Ringside will show the latest news, interviews and expert analysis, starting on September 9.

SATURDAY NIGHTS - Live boxing on Sky Sports returns to Saturday nights giving extra prominence and at an earlier start time of 9pm.

BEST OF BRITISH - Live Sky Sports HD coverage will showcase the best British boxers - including some of our brightest prospects.

Managing Director of Sky Sports, Barney Francis, said: "Ringside returns to our screens and live boxing is back on Saturday nights - this is great news for sports fans.

"Every week viewers will have the chance to see a weekly boxing magazine show with an extra focus on the key issues in boxing with in-depth news, interviews and expert opinions."

Sky Sports boxing commentator and former world champion, Jim Watt, said: "British boxing is in a very healthy state so it's wonderful news that it will have even more coverage on Sky Sports.

"There is a great mix of exciting British boxers that are knocking on the door for a world title and also some very gifted young boxers with huge potential.

"I'm sure that we will all enjoy watching their progress on Sky Sports as well as keeping up to date with Britain's current world champions and of course the very best boxers from Stateside."

By the way, just in case you didn't notice - this will be on Sky Sports.

Now, there's just one more piece of the puzzle left to fill...bring back Big Gary Mason!

Wonderful news!  The great domestic tussles benefited tremendously from this weekly review. I love the pre and post fight breakdowns that pique ones pugilistic senses!

My preferred panel would be - Host - John "Tank Engine" Breen -  Analysts - Terry Marsh, Bright Spider, Jumbo Cummings - With Brian Dennehy as the picaresque roaming foreign correspondent covering global pugilistic stories.

The first feature should be a Kirkland Langesque journey into the world of troubled Belfast boxer Eamonn Magee. Fly on the wall footage of Magee frequenting run down taverns and opium dens, back alley brawls at closing time, copious consumption of fish suppers and low grade carrion, snarling at disobedient harlets and headbutting loquacious neighbours, collapsing in the back garden of John Breen's ornate cottage, covered in a strange viscous mix of sucrose and breadcrumbs indicating an altercation with a mammoth rogue gingerbread man. The final part of the feature would document a caged Magee, incarcerated and brooding in a Belfast penitentiary, fighting to the death in crude bear pits against hardened IRA operatives.

What a magnificent opening episode this would be, propelling ringside back into the televisual mix!
