Oh come on sevens! If Messi does it he's a genius and makes defenders look silly! That was a great goal!

It was a brilliant goal, he just sort of hit it straight and nobody tackled if that makes sense

I'd be telling everyone it was the greatest goal ever had I scored it

Not being a dick either

For all great goals like Hatem's today their is always some shit defending that happens, even the one Maradona scored against england was in part down to shit defending.

The fact is though in today's none contact game if a guy is running at you full speed with the ball, you miss it by a split second and catch him then you could be off.

The defending today was no more to blame imo than saying well a keeper should be closer to his right hand side or whatever after conceding a 30 yard screamer.

I will try and explain myself one more time..... Cheesy

He didn't dribble, there was no fancy footwork, he just sort of got the rub of the green, hit the ball and carried on running before poking it into the net

Great goal but there isn't a f***ing chance it's anywhere near goal of the season!!!!

I haven't seen it yet but my mate tells me that that Ream kid pretty much ran away. Grin

I always argued with my mate about how shit the England defending was for Maradona's wonder goal. He thought it was sublime whilst i pointed out that showing a clean pair of heels to Peter Reid wasn't exactly difficult and Terry Butcher's token hanging of the left leg was embarrassing. He should have cleaned him out half way up the stand.

The best bit about the goal is the turn.

The rest is pace and appalling defending. He opens up 30 yards of pitch just by going past 1 man and then both centre-halves back off.

It's not even the best goal Ben Arfa has scored this season.

First time I watched it and I thought it was absolute magic.  Watched it again though and I can kind of see where 7's is coming from.

The first touch is the best thing by a mile about it, absolute magic touch.

The rest though is just knocking it in straight lines and being too quick for the other 3 guys who attempt to tackle.

Not discrediting anything but the majority is just speed in a straight line.

Crouch's goal is still a long way ahead for me for goal of the season  Lips Sealed

here it is! that turn on the halfway line was sublime! It's a great goal. Still think Crouch was better. But give the guy some credit not many players can do that!

If it should win or not is one thing but it has to be up their as a contender, Giggs vs Arsenal was not a million miles different and everyone praised that as the goal of goals at the time and even today sometimes.

Haha come on mate you can't even compare the two. Giggs beat about 4-5 men who were flying in at him from all angles.  He must of twisted and changed direction at least 3 times.

Artem Ben Arfa goal today was good but the defending flattered how good it actually was. You can't compare it to Giggs goal as Giggs took on and beat 4 defenders at close range and shot at a narrow angle.

Giggs ran side to side and then into a gap between two defenders, I don't see them as two very different goals to be honest but hey ho.

It's a good goal. It's not beating crouch and coates' goals though and I think cab aye has scored a better one this year too.
