Not to mention that from one of the camera angles the ball looked to hit either a liverpool defender or the newcastle player chasing it in, but then on another angle it did not look to hit anyone.
I can understand why the other team might be a bit pissed off as the pass was going in the direction of Cisse and didn't deviate from it's path as such before reaching him. I personally find it a ridiculous rule as it leaves things massively open for interpretation and leads to more criticism of refs in an age when they already get hammered. What was wrong with being offside when you were offside - end of story?

100% agree with the offside thing, if you are on the pitch you are in play I think

Maybe true, but earlier on Newcastle lost a corner due to Ba being given offside from a ball that went miles over his head from a deflection or something.

Even with the new ' interpretation' of the rule. He couldn't be anymore active by scoring a goal from an offside position when the ball was played in his direction.

Cannot argue we were very poor again. Don't like the idea of switching managers every season but Kenny may not be the answer and that hurt me to say it I tried to tell you that mate..it doesn't work.a couple of seasons ago I thought you were making progress and was a little worried you might be a challenge with a few new signings.but I'm afraid the likes of downing and co are not up to Liverpool standards and you have fallen back..I think kenny needs to admit he is not up to it he's another Keegan.

Cannot argue we were very poor again. Don't like the idea of switching managers every season but Kenny may not be the answer and that hurt me to say it Signing a club legend is rarely a good answer to a managerial problem, it's more often a reactionary one to appease the fans. It would have been better to put in an interim manager and make a solid, proven manager with a playing style suited to the squads attributes a priority. If there's a conflict between the two styles it just won't work. And if the manager just isn't up to it no amount of sentiment or passion can put that right. Time for a proper think about the best interests of the club as regards a manager.

Liverpool Football Club have appealed Pepe Reina's red card, saying: "In Spain, the act of headbutting someone is a sign of friendship.."

The toon march on and the top 6 finish predicted in September is hopefully going to give me a big wedge. We probably need another 6 points to make sure with 7 games remaining great stuff.
On another note: the top 4. Lets give it a good go, try and win every game. The next four are winnable and the game against Chelsea is as they have 2 other competitions to worry about. I don't think we will do it but I dare to dream and thats what its all about. For the record I don't think we're odds on for Europa league football yet, Everton will give Liverpool all they can handle in that FA Cup semi final... a day when all Toon fans will turn into scousers of the red variety.

Fair play to you mate, you make a very brave prediction which I thought was very unrealistic! But very happy to be proved wrong! I can't praise Pardew enough for what he's doing at Newcastle. I wasn't happy with the whole way it was dealt with to get him in as Hughton had done a great job. Got to praise Cashley as well, for all the wrong he's done for the club, he's actually deserves some praise now! Could the impossible actually be possible?! who knows but the next 4 games are very winnable! TOOON TOOON!!!

Mike Ashley will earn his corn in this Summers transfer window in my opinion. If any of the likes of Cabaye, Tiote, Cisse, Ben Arfa go for less than £25m then hes a mug. An absolute mug. Those players can earn him Champions league money in the future if they are kept and a European class centre back is added. People forget that we lost Ba and Tiote for a considerable length of time to the Africa Cup of Nations and we will have Cisse for the full season next time. Looking good but need to keep as many of them as possible!

You have to say though it's looking like a master stroke by Ashley to bring in Pardew. Almost as good as his decision to sell Andy Carroll for 35 mil !! He's unpopular the geordies but at least he's not afraid to make to big decisions!

If Pardew gets Newcastle into top 6 by the end of the season, he has to be manager of the year does he not? I know a lot of people are giving the guy from Swansea a lot of praise but he did not arguably lose his 3 or 4 best players all within months of each other last year.
A result in a tough game against Swansea and I would say it is job done for Newcastle providing they don't lose every game after that which is massively unlikely.
Hopefully if Tiote goes they get top dollar for him, I watched a bit of the game yesterday and every spare ball he picks up and every man in trtouble he is the one providing a pass for. You stick him in any team in the prem and he makes a big difference I don't care who they have in their centre mid.

I was listening to a podcast this week - Guardian I think - and the guy was saying that Liverpool are about where they should be based on the quality they've signed.
His argument was Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Adam, Enrique have never played in sides that have finished higher than 6th in the Premier League so why should they now?
I can kind of see the point but they were generally the best players at their clubs. It's the amount of money they've paid for then that's the real problem.
As Harty says - most non-Liverpool fans could see this coming a mile away. 10 years out of the game is just too long for anybody and that's before you factor in how rapid the change has been for the last decade.

The only guy i could see leaving is Tiote. Don't see Ba going anywhere or Cabaye. Will be interesting to see how we buy and offload. Obertan should be given away in a raffle!
