Count how many times he gives the ball away Aaron. Watching Scholes knit the play together 40/50 yards up a pitch, touching the ball 4/5 times, playing 1 and 2 touch football - it's different class. He runs the game. I'd much rather a midfielder retain possession like that when there is nothing on, rather than dropping 20/30 yard ball Hollywood passes which only 1 in 10 come off. He's still the closest thing we have to a Xavi or Iniesta.

Scholes won me a few quid in the days I used to go watching England, Greece away he was awesome. I think you must remember the game against Sweden Aaron when he was sent off. Scholes was as good any of that era - granted he has always been a better club player but most internationals of any nation can say that

Is that after the Ben Arfa and Cabaye ones?

He was played out of position to fit other players into the side also. A problem England still haven't eradicated. Scholes is far more effective than any other midfielder we have had since gasgoigne.

Can't agree tbh, for me Gerrard has been the one for years and years.

Paul scholes actually wanted to pursue a career in music but the record company wouldn’t allow him and mick hucknell to be in the charts at the same time.

I think a lot of players if they took no risks would be able to go through a game without giving the ball away Kev, but then nobody would probably score and it would be a boring game to watch. Who is that guy playing for one of the newly promoted teams who has the best passing record or whatever this season? But then what have his passes acutally contributed towards for the team? It is ok playing the ball left or right all day and someone else making things happen, but it does not make you a great player as otherwise all the Madrids and Barca's would be after whatever him. Scholes was a good player and has scored some amazing goals, if he was not then Fergie would of shifted him years ago before anyone knew he was. But he could never tackle, and like I say for me kept it simple and was to easy on letting others make things happen. I post a lot of stuff on this board just for laughs more than anything but I mean this, if you took scholes out of the very good team he has been lucky enough to be part of and played him at say Everton or whatever then I don't think you have the legend everyone states him as. Maybe his england days are an example of that. No being pissy sevens but Gerrard has been in a good team but rarely superb team for most of his career and is regarded as head and shoulders above almost anyone in his generation. He has made things happen for them and for the largest part of his career has been the reason they have won whatever they have. He could tackle, pass long and short, shoot and even head the ball.

Not going to argue about the gerrard thing. I believe you are right on there.
However, I believe you are selling schoolers well short. That being said I don't like the fact that every pass is classed as a completed stat. There are negative and positive passes. Scholes is guilty of many negative passes I.e sode ways short passes and or backwards passes. But you have to bear in mind that sometimes these short negative passes are required to pull people out of position, give players time to find space and allow players to wander away from there marker.
It's very similar with Lucas' pass stats. Often top 3 most accurate in the prem on a weekly basis but gets slated for 'negative' passing. However, some of that negative passing can be attributed to his position after breaking up a play, as can scholse's. If you cut out a pass and/or disposes a ball your always going to play the way you face and the easiest outlet due to the other playing having better composer, better positioning and most often better visual of the options.
Apologies for the use of a LFC player as an example but they are both similar scenarios in my opinion.

A-Your deffo the worst IMO....Your tone(i no its tinternet) over members stick up for there club just as much but the way you come across well..... (welcome to Manchester poster, that prat in a bar in new york saying what your gonna win etc spring to mind)
B-The so called bigger clubs DO get the rub of the green FACT. Man City are now in the BIG club bracket....tell me if the chelsea goal was off side against Wigan? Could spend all day going on about it. And City have had a few too
C-No defending yourself and standing up for what you believe does not equal a Argument.... there are ways to go about it with out coming across as a ? what ever, read some other posts by say 7's, last resort IMO he does the name calling thing or something similar and even then trys to blank the person, Hoover can also have a debate with out the name callin. You dive straight in with it............Lack of maturity
That part in brackets in part A, I'm guessing you're talking about the club as a whole? I can't do anything about that can I, I don't control the fans who jump on the bandwagon. B, you've got a fair point and I never denied that the big clubs don't get them. It just seems to not only be me but others as well that notice that it happens at old trafford a lot more than other places, that's all. C, when did I actually name call? I called you deluded in the last post but to me that's how you're coming across, I wouldn't class it as serious name calling though. It's not like I called you a twat or a bellend. You pretty much started it and I answered you, you'd probably do the same thing if the shoe was on the other foot would you not?
