Kelly isn't in the full squad but don't dismiss him cos he plays for us, he will be a full international without a doubt, can play right or centre back, big, strong, pacey, different player to Walker, Johnson and Richards but VERY good just injury prone as I think he is still growing like Gerrard at that age
I wasn't dismissing him cos he plays for Liverpool. I've just not really heard much of him I thought he was a back up to johnson and surprised that he was called up above richards. Nothing to do with him playing for Liverpool, I do think he has only got in as Roy knows more about him and he's seen something I haven't . I think Gerrard will be a great captain for England.

BREAKING NEWS!!
Joey Barton banned for 12 games! Seems fair enough to me. I got a feeling QPR might even get rid of him now.

In fairness though he was never going to inflict serious injury with what he did. I'm not saying he should not have been punished but the punishment should have been the Same as a bad two footed tackle.

12 games is harsh, no way he plays for qpr again, he's banned for a quater of the season

Actually not 4 games for the red cards accumilated over the season 8 games for his antics afterwards - so the same as Suarez So i dont think so harsh and a fair ban

Not really fair at all when you think back at balloteli receiving no punishment for actually trying to break someone's leg.

Its not just what happened on the pitch, he also went on twitter and carried it on which i dont think the FA liked as well! i also think its down to the millions of viewers worldwide that the FA felt something had to be done and his track record doesnt help him either! If i remember correctly "di canio" got 1 month ban and "cantona" 8months?

But then again, career ending dead legs Are rife at the moment in the prem aren't they? The potential was there and "could of" ended his career! Premeditated attack and then to go on twitter with the comments of "I wanted to take someone off with me" deserves a lengthy ban

I agree, I can't believe people are defending Barton or even comparing it to a 2 footed challenge in the heat of the moment, it was a pre meditated attack on someone who was a bystander in another incident, from behind,it was so cowardly. Barton has a long track record of being a serial wanker, and then he boasts about it in social media, 12 matches is proper
