I would rest Ashley Young bags of talent but knocked off the ball far to easily. The Ukranians are a big physical side and obviously are going to go for it so its not the time to have fancy dans than a bit of midfield steel. Milner on the left or Gerrard with Jones or Henderson in the midfield just gives a bit more defensive cover

Looking forward to Rooney coming into the team, playing shit and his age or fitness being used an excuse. Always worth a watch.

They have done fine so far without Shrek face, he should not just walk back into the team of which he is so consistantly shite for.

Andy Carrol was England's best defender and scored a beast of a header. He's becoming an animal with a load more to his game than the press and the Lemings would dare give him credit for.

He played well and is a real threat he is very physical but depending who we get later in the comp they are going to go down very easily against him. I think Rooney as to come in the side but you can't really drop Carroll or Welbeck could Rooney play behind the front too or is it just too risky playing too attacking.

I wouldn't go that far.

He's playing better than he was but he's not at the peak he was at for Newcastle. On his day, with the right service he is the very definition of unplayable - there is literally nothing you can do if he is bang up for it. I just wonder if he needs a team building round him for that to happen.

Do you think Liverpool will play 4231 next year? Carroll obviously doesn't have the mobility to run the channels like Graham did at Swansea, not that he's the slouch people suggest he is either, but a lot of Swansea's success seemed to come from Graham stretching teams and allowing Swansea to then play between the lines.

A 3 of Gerrard, Suarez and Sigurdsson behind Caroll could be interesting - you could see Gylfi playing off Carroll quite a lot, similar to how Lampard did with Drogba under Jose. The only slight difference is Drogba is that bit more athletic than Carroll.

I don't know about Carroll, I think a good percentage of his game is in his head. I saw him at Newcastle destroy Villa and I remember thinking "F*ck me what a player" and then we've seen that performance once or twice since which isn't enough but for me his attitude completely changed after we played Newcastle, he got booed off the park, had a stinker then got subbed and I think he realised there was no way back and he had to make it work

Someone made a compilation of him against Sweden and despite a few erratic passes he was great and looked a right handful, the most impressive thing though was his chasing back and defending in his own box after we had taken the lead, only Gerrard and Parker covered more distance apparently

Every single article is 35m Andy Carroll and I'd like to see him just called Andy Carroll without a price tag appended to him that was never his fault, he has loads of time on his side and that's why I've never knee jerked over him or Henderson, Downing on the other hand can kiss my swingers

Credit where it's due for Carroll, he's taken some flack but that was a beast of header. the header alone justifies his position in the team for the Sweden game. But let's not go overboard, his pass completion rate was 56%! Shocked And considering how shocking England are at keeping the ball, that's not good enough from their striker.

I will be staggered if he doesn't play Welbeck and Rooney after the form they showed together towards the end of last season for utd. They had started to look like a real partnership and Roy would be a fool not to take advantage of that imo.

Stats can be very miss leading. Pass completion. Would a clearance from your own box be included in this? As the amount of defending and mopping up he was doing this wouldn't surprise me.

All three of the touted front players will have a part to play. Rooney will be chomping at the bit whereas Welbeck might be a due a bit of a rest over 90 minutes. Carroll was excellent in the first half against Sweden but was a little less effective in the second half. I'm not sure he's a 90 minute player.

It's absolute disgusting!

I remember when City played FC Porto in Europa league! City fans sang to Hulk "your not that increadable" and got fined £25,000 for deformation of character! FC Porto fans radically abused Mario Ballotelli an got fined £16,000

We can cry foul all we want but it's simple, the England fans should not of jumped out of the stands and onto the running track. They have ultimately encroached onto the playing surface which everyone knows isn't allowed. I'm not on my high horse, it's ultimately pathetic but like I said, the fans know the rules.

I am not crying foul that they are investigating, I am saying that there should be parity and clearly there is not, if England fans were having pitch battles with opposing fans FIFA would be having kittens right now, it seems with it not being England fans it is swept under the carpet
