Legendary Nights: Leonard Hagler Part 1 [Abbas Khan]

Legendary Nights: Leonard Hagler Part 2 [Abbas Khan]

Legendary Nights: Leonard Hagler Part 3 [Abbas Khan]

Controversial and everyone always seems to have a different view?

Did Hagler win on aggression in the second half of the round, or did Leonard steal it with 30 seconds of flurries?

Thanks mate. IQ

Leonard was such a creep, I wouldn't shake hands with him. Not then, not today. Hope, people understand whether or not they agree. By light years behind Hearns, Duran and Hagler. A figher? No. An extremely clever and gifted boxer-politician? Yes.

Hagler's obsession to let himself be talked into that fight also leaves me wondering just as the idea to box Leonard and orthodox at that. Can't help liking the Hitman most out of all of them four.

Did Leonard really on his own, without the judges and his golden boy image take the belt from the champion? I don't think so. A clown; I agree with what Duran said.

In all my years as a boxing fan, this to me was and still is the most disappointing decision. Excuse me while I start crying again Cry

I watched this as a kid and swore that Hagler won. Now as an adult, I know Leonard won.

Marvin was old and slow and didn't land punches.

I first saw the fight in its entirety after watching highlights on the Fabulous 4 and since that time (maybe 5 years ago) I have seen the fight around 5/6 times, and every single time I have Hagler by 2 rounds (maybe 1 round being very generous to Sugar).

Such a shame we never got to see the rematch.

Firstly, my god what an awful fight. Secondly, you could see it either way. Hagler wanted to hurt ray so bad that he was tensed up and barely threw a punch, while ray skipped and moved and bobbed and weaved and flicked sporadic flurries of light punches out. I thought ray had it on activity but I can see that hagler did more damage. Horrible fight imo

Hagler's probably my favourite fighter of all time, but even I admit that he lost that. Folks who swear blind that Hagler won need to watch the fight again and consider the ten points must system. Leonard without a doubt won the first four rounds right off the bat, and I reckon he won the fifth, too.

Given that, Hagler would have needed to win each of the next seven rounds to win, which he didn't. Leonard won the twelfth, leaving Hagler needing a KO to get a draw.

I understand Hagler fans' frustration, because Ray didn't really beat Marvelous, but he still won that fight.

Ray was good, but an even better conman, the pitter patter flurries didn't affect Hagler. I still say Leonard won, but you are correct he didn;t beat Hagler. And deliberately avoided Hagler until he knew Hagler was on the slide. Hagler is one of them fighters who would probably beat Leonard 7/10 times but didn't on the night.
