Agreed. He used his skills brilliantly. And was quite aggressive for a boxer, much more so than Mayweather. It would have been a waste of talent for him to try and slug out fights when there was no need. His fight against Benitez was unbelievable.

yep exactly that Deck, why be aggressive when 99% of the time he didn't need to?  There are quite a few examples of him standing and trading but the majority of the time he was content to counter punch and box on the back foot, and why shouldn't he?  That was what made him so successful.  In times when he needed to prove he had heart, he did it, perfectly.

Completely agree mate IQ.
I remember thinking Hagler had it, but watching it now I'd go with Ray every time.

It's the first time i've watched the fight all the way through without being interrupted and i had Ray a clear winner.  It's probably just me but i struggle to see how anyone can give it to Hagler.  Didn't do enough for me.

Hagler never really got his punches off did he. Leonard only fought in fits & spurts but he was clever enough to always work for the last half minute of rounds to leave it fresh in the judges minds.

yep it's exactly what he said in Four Kings, and usually what he tended to do in the majority of his fights.  Always threw plenty of shots and flashy punches in the last 30 seconds so the judges always had it fresh in their minds.

Cracking read, took me a while but was worth it.

Reminds me a lot of reading Four Kings.

IQ mate.
