Cotto doesn't really do anything for me anymore. He used to turn me on, in a no homo way.

But now, he's just topping up his pension fund. He's every right to cash in for what he has given the sport over the years. But his fighting style means he is already an old shopworn fighter. And I don't really care for fights like this.

Ta, IQ

I am looking forward to that fight. Cotto did the right thing by moving up in weight and showed against Foreman that he can still learn from experience and improve. Hope he wins this, then beats Cheato and then has a rematch against the Philipino. Call me mad and delusional!

Cotto/Manny/Floyd have all been topping up their pensions of late. Cotto is the one out of all of them i can go easy on a little for it.

The fact that Cotto is going to face Tony after this takes some of the resentmenr out of it for me. I dont think their is a fighter in the sport right now who would face the same mental battle against any of their opponents that Cotto will against Marg.
If Cotto beats Margarito i think you will see him in with Martinez or Williams after that if he can not get the rematch with Manny he and his team are desperate for.

I think Pacquaio can be given a little credit for this fight against Mosley, He has had some serious fights aswell, It's not his fault he is making light work of them.

This fight with mosley does'nt bother me at all, yes i think Manny will win handy enough, But if there is no one on his level it's not his fault, Mayweather aint happening anytime soon, so where else can he go!!

Just curious on peoples opinions.

Cotto doesn't deserve a rematch against Manny. He was thoroughly outclassed first time out. No doubt he'll just get another beating if they fight again. Definitely not a fight anyone should want to see.

He deserves a rematch against Margarito. It's the logical fight now, if he gets past Mayorga. Will be a hard fight to call, especially if it happens in June with Margarito coming off that serious beating. Cotto should be the favourite, but Margarito could definitely do him in again.

If Mosley puts up a good display against Manny (or dare I say it win?  Shocked),then Cotto-Mosley II is likely. Especially now that Mosley has broken away from Golden Boy.

Then there's always the likes of the other guys in the other weight classes like Martinez and Berto. Plenty of options there for Cotto and of plenty opportunities for him to take more beatings. As a fan of his, thats what I fear anyway.

I don't buy this whole notion that Cotto deserves an easy payday more than the other top guys. He's had plenty of easy paydays recently, against the likes of Alfonso Gomez, Jennings and Yuri Foreman. Now he's in with Mayorga, who isn't really an easy payday for anyone but you get my drift.

I believe guys like Manny and Mayweather are subjected to unfair criticism for their opponent selections, just like Roy Jones did back in the 90s. Their dominance over their opponents can work against them in that respect.

Good post, Floyd is a victim of his own talent, I've said that one before, although both should still cop some criticism, at least.

As for Cotto vs Pacquiao II, Cotto was back peddling from around the 4th onward, it wasn't even a competitive match after that point.

For me he lost the chance to gain any credit for it the minute Floyd beat him so easily, not to mention his refusal to fight Shane in the past unless Shane killed himself to make weight.

Cotto does not derserve a rematch against Manny irish i agree upto now, but does Shane, Tony, and Clottey all deserve there chances that they are being handed so as Manny can get all these belts at different weights?

The reason i believe Cotto over Manny deserves another payday is because Cotto has taken two bad losses in the last couple of years, the first one far more damaging than the second imo, what was revealed after the fight could of only made it worse.

Manny is supposed to be going from strength to strength as the p4p number one, not taking easy paydays, the same with Floyd.

You cant call Cotto for fighting Foreman if your not going to call Manny for fighting Tony as they both took the easiest way to a title in a new division. Difference is though is that Cotto is staying in that division where Manny fought at in a one off.

Cotto would not be fighting Mayorga now had Di Bella and Arum been able to agree the money on Cotto/Martinez.

i actually agree with that, cotto seems to get a free pass off nearly everyone on here whatever he does and whoever he decides to fight.... just see the difference from when manny's fight with mosley was announced and when cotto's even bigger mismatch against mayorga was announced, apparently the second fight is fine because cotto's had a few hard fights... i dont agree with that at all he had a long (and deserved) lay off after the manny fight, then had a relatively easy world title win against foreman  he's now taken a backward step in fighting mayorga, yes you could say the same about manny fighting mosley but they deserve to be treated the same, regardless of p4p rankings or anything else.
