Who you think wins this one. I think Rees will stop him in 8 rounds. 8/13 for a KO for Rees with paddypwer.

If Mathews can weather the storm for the first 4-5 rounds then I think he has enough to win on the cards.  Rees gassed big time against Andy Murray in the second half of the fight, and Mathews has turned in to quite a good, tidy fighter.  Although if Rees has worked on his stamina and endurance, he should win, his relentless pressure will be too much for Mathews.  A good fight for the neutral i reckon, could go either way!

checked matthew's last few fights on boxrec, his last fight was against a guy who was 5-0-1. Hardly the same class as former world titleist rees.

i think rees will win but after he gassed so badly vs murray I dunno how competitive it will be

No doubt Rees is a pkt rocket, but to me, he looks like he is throwing a million punches in a burst but they all look a bit slappy and army to me. Then from 6 onwards he just seems to lean on, grab hold and gas out. Entertaining yes, but educated boxing and energy saving....No.

All that said, im picking him to win ud.

Im suprised how many people on here are going for a UD. Remember Matthews has been stopped by Buckland and Scott Lawton. I don't think Matthews boxing ability is good enough to keep Rees of him.

Here is Matthews last figt against a 6 round novice.

I think Ree's will box for the UD. In spurts, no way will he fight like he normally does. The tank has emptied. Against Murray he nearly lost through pure exhaustion and if Murray had of been able to land ANYTHING, he would have beaten him easily in them 6 rounds, also Rees landed at will for 6 rounds and got no wgere near a stoppage. Powers have the decision at 3-1. I think thats the bet.

But to be fair, Matthews isnt Andy Murray. He has been stopped 5 times, even against Scott Lawton. Rees isn't a big puncher but he has a heavy dig. You don't have to be smokin Joe Frazier to stop Matthews. I think Matthews will be out of there in 8 rounds.

I'm mainly going off what I have seen from Rees. I havent much knowledge of Matthews. Is his chin that bad??

I don't think its that bad in terms of getting sparked out but he seems to get worn down. Buckland stopped him in 2 rounds in prize fighter with a body shot. Scott Lawton who isnt remotly heavy handed stopped him in 5 or 6. He claims to have 'got his hunger back' though so maybe he will produce something good.

He doesn't react well to body punches, I would definitely target this if I were Rees and wouldn't be at all surprised if Mathews folded because of a body shot again. Reckon he was over 3 or 4 times against Choi from punches downstairs.
