NEW YORK - British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn said he will do his best to make good with jilted fans who were expecting to come over from the United Kingdom on October 29 for the Showtime Super Six finale in Atlantic City.

Hearn, who was in New York City Wednesday afternoon to promote his charge Darren Barker's middleweight title challenge of division kingpin Sergio Martinez, said that he is trying to think of a way to compensate for the postponement of Nottingham, England's Carl Froch clash with Andre Ward, which was rescheduled for December 17 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. after Ward suffered a cut in sparring.

"The fans aren't happy, we're not happy and Showtime aren't happy," said Hearn, head of Matchroom Sport. "[Showtime VP of Sports Programming] Ken Hershman is very sympathetic to the fans, like us, and we're going to do something for the fans who lost out for that show. We don't know what it is yet, whether it's some kind of compensation on flights they couldn't change or some kind of free ticket offer for the next one on December 17. We worked so hard to get the Carl Froch fans over for that fight and we want them to come back, therefore we're going to do everything we can to make everything a little less painful for them."

Sorry to hear that, mate. Hope something crops up for you soon. Maybe a trip would make you feel better?

It's an excellent idea by Hearn and Matchroom, who seem to have a genuine concern about fans and are prepared to put them above huge profit margins.  Just wish we could find out what this is to be honest.  They obviously have some ideas and I'm waiting with baited breath here!   Wink

Since Eddie stepped into the big time of boxing so to speak and Matchroom started getting noticed, they have not put a foot wrong imo. He seems like a cracking promoter and one with the interest of fans genuinly at heart, unlike Frank, Goldengirl and fat Bob.

It still annoys me that Groves never signed with Matchroom because they are head and shoulders above others in taking care of their fighters, and making the big fights happen at the moment.

Fair play to Eddie and Matchroom they are doing the right thing in the long term. Boxing isn't the cheapest sport to watch but he knows people will have a certain loyalty to him if he shows he can help out with the arrangement of this fight.

More good work from Eddie,

The fact that they are looking to do something for the fans is brilliant. Would make me go out of my way to see another of their shows.

Yeah but let's face it if David Haye has been your promoter it's a step up. When everyone around him left Haye he stayed on. And no doubt Haye and Booth have advised him of who to sign with also. He's not fallen out with Haye has he - it's just the promotional side of things being wound up?

Yes good news will have to wait and see. Cost us an extra £300 per person, little pissed off this is the 3rd time during the super six tourno, 1st Copenhagen date change and venue change, Monaco and now Atlantic City.

Matchroom didn’t want Groves after hearing GBP had the rights for American fights. They were disappointed but felt that they couldn’t sign him with that clause.

Cheers mate. It sounded a raw deal for Matchroom then. Especially if Groves moves on fast in his career.
