Anyone watch this? Im glad I stayed up for it Hendo and Shougan served up a classic both showing courage beyond the call of duty an all out war, I wanted Rua to win but  glad Hendo got it because he deserved it.
All in all a brilliant card Faber looked quailty in submitting Bowles (who i thought would win) him and Cruz will serve up a quailty 3rd fight,. And what can you say about Wandi Silva people said he should retire before he gets hurt etc etc but i dont agree its not like hes proper shot like Chuck  was he can still mix it.

Yeh I agree, absolutely awesome fight. I scored the fight a draw, giving Hendo 1, 2 & 3 then Shogun round 4 and 5 with the last round being a 10-8.
I thought the fight was over on several occasions - would love to see a rematch.

But great card from top to bottom tonight. Looking forward to Faber v Cruz 3 also!

I've just watched it now, what a great fight! I too scored it a draw, had it the exact same scoring as goldenboy did. You can see why MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world when they put fights on like that.

I know, the card was stacked as well. Fights on the Prelims through to the main card are all competitive fights - the bonus system makes guys go out to finish fights .

Dismissed the UFC when it first come onto our screens in the UK, but been watching it for the last 4 years now and rarely are you left disappointed by any of the events unfortunately compared to boxing now. Boxing Promoters and fighters more interested in where the money is as oppose to testing themselves against the best which is sad. Few fighters out there like Pacquiao, Froch, Martinez etc who do put themselves up against the best competition out there.

Just spent the last few hours watching the whole card, I keep saying wow each time I see a UFC event (except the uk card)

Words cannot describe what a fight the main event was! Just outstanding. Dan thought he could get Shogun out early and it nearly cost him the fight! Huge kudos to Shogun for hanging in there and to the ref for not stopping it in the 3rd and letting them fight on.

I think it was the right decision I scored it 48-47 Hendo. Really like the main events over 5 rounds. Would love to see a rematch.

Super impressed with Faber, he looked phenomenal. I hope he can take his chance against Cruz and win the title as I really like him.

Last note, massive props to Wanderlei Silva, he pulled that out of the bag and was a super fight again. If anyone wants a link to the event just let me know and I'll post it up..

What an incredible fight.

UFC events can be amazing to watch.  The big difference between the UFC events and a typical boxing event, and what makes it a much better spectacle as a whole, is that the fights are not "picked" by the fighters and their teams.  They are all competitive fights, so even if one finishes quickly (like Junior Dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez) then the event is almost always salvaged by the rest of the card.

Boxing events can be a total let down if the main event doesn't live up to billing, because so many of the fights are against bums with very predictable outcomes.  Take Joshua Clottey against Calvin Green, that was a Piss take.

Boxing is ruined by politics, and if somebody could bring an organization managed in the style of the UFC to prominence, it would be a massive boon to a sport currectly wrecked by people protecting their records for as long as possible.
