The date was 2000 (2000-10-21).

Emanual Agustus was in with Floyd Mayweather and ref Dale Grable.

The fight would prove the chin of Emanual as great as his ability to dance in the ring.

hes said it on a number of occasions... its common that great fighters always seem to reflect back to a fight while learning their trade as their most difficult. morales was the same if i remember correctly

Just inspired me to rewatch his fight against Micky Ward, still can't get my head around the judge that gave it Ward 98-90 - I thought Burton knicked it!

This was a great, great fight.  It really is a tragedy that so few people will have seen it relative to e.g. the number of people that saw Pacquiao Mosley or similar disappointing mega events.

Emanuel fought almost everyone there was to fight. People may laugh at his record but I respect him for having to balls to step in the ring with anyone and drunken master style boxing like he was doing is still ahead of it's time.

Sure some people say it's just a journeyman gimmick and looks funny and entertains the crowd at least on an otherwise forgone conclusion but if someone comes along one day and finds a way to win consistently with it, they'd take the world and sport by storm.

He got jobbed on the cards loads of times to be fair. He had a bout against a ranked lightweight who's name escapes me on FNF which i particularly remember was a disgrace.

*EDIT* it was Courtney Burton and i think Augustus stopped him in the rematch.
