Joke of a fight really, I don't buy that Manny is on the slide just because Marquez gave him hell but if he was to struggle in this I would probably agree.
Lamont Peterson is nothing even close to special in terms of his ability, I would worry about him sparring Manny never mind fighting him for real.

Pacquaio vs Peterson - why not?
Because pacman is very impressive against the come forward fighters , especially against the strong true welterweights . Peterson comes forward and is not a hard puncher , it would be very easy for pacman to dismantle Peterson.
Pacman has only showed signs of frustration and struggles at times when you put a boxer that thinks , defensive first , counters .
Peterson is nothing like that .

True Keegan, it would tell us nothing about Manny we don't already know. If roach pushes for this fight he is a cop out.

Peterson is actually not a come forward fighter. He only fought that style coz he knew Amir Khan's jab was getting the better of him if he stayed outside. So he came forward to smother that Jab and score inside where Khan is most vulnerable.Against other fighters Peterson will Box more from the Outside. So a match up against Pacman is not too bad actually, coz Pacman is not much of a jabber so Peterson can fight his natural style. But once Pacman gets to midrange,he can fire his straight left and its good night Peterson. Roach wants his man to improve his Game against tactical fighters, maybe that's why he wants the match up.

I knew there was someone who knows what they are talking about.

A 4th with Marquez would appeal to me more than this one.

This. The 1st 3 fights have been excellent to watch so a 4th fight would be another great watch.

hence my point on this not being an easy fight as people are saying. lamont does have a few different ways of fighting.

seriously PACMAN wins by 1st round KO!!
He is notoriously slow. Khan and Ortiz had him down twice early. PACMAN is much more powerful than both and thats at welterweight.
Peterson would be deserving enough of a shot but seriously there are probably at least 5 more interesting packman opponents out there IMO. If Peterson is to be taken seriously I also believe he should rematch Khan asap and settle the argument

The slow starts made by Peterson would be fatal here. I get what people are saying, he isnt solely a come forward fighter. However he has been at his best when he comes forward. He tried to box Bradley, got destroyed, tried to box Ortiz, nearly got stopped, tried to box Khan, had to totally adapt agter 2 bad rounds.
He's not at that level. Nothing wrong with him challenging if he feels he can, Pac will fight anyone really in fairness once it makes sense in other ways. I'd like to see Peterson take on an Ortiz/Maidana/Alexander/Rios type next but maybe they will try cash in.
As for Pac, why fight Peterson when the guy who dismantled Peterson is looking for a fight. The Khan vs Peterson fight makes Bradley look a whole lot better. I'd be all for a Pac vs Bradley fight.
