Fair play to the lad.  Apparently he's F***ed HBO off as well.

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, middleweight Sergio Martinez (48-2-2, 27KOs) vacated his WBC Diamond title. The Argentine star was angry with the sanctioning body's failure to force a mandatory fight with WBC full champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (44-0, 31KOs). The organization ordered the fight two weeks, at their 49th annual convention in Las Vegas. But a few days later WBC President Jose Sulaiman tried to get Martinez to step aside in order to allow Chavez to defend his title against number one ranked Marco Antonio Rubio (53-5, 46KOs) on February 4th in Texas.

Martinez doesn't consider Chavez a real champion, and hopes Rubio beats him in February. Martinez will face Matthew Macklin on March 17th.

"I hope Rubio beats Chavez Jr. to end the lie. And if [Rubio] wins, just tell me where [to fight him] and I'll look forward to it. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is the biggest coward in the world, followed by [Top Rank CEO] Bob Arum," Martinez said.

Fair play to Sergio.
Chavez Jr has to be the biggest Fraud in Boxing History.
I have never ever seen a Champion who wins a Title, then his Promoters say he's not ready,he's not ready blah blah. Then why is he Champion if he's not ready to face the best in his Division.
Bob Arum is a Gready scumbag, the sooner he goes the better.

You obviously don't read boxingscene eh. Wink

He's angry that Chavez Jr (the WBC champion) is fighting somebody else.  He thinks the WBC have reneged on a pledge to make Chavez fight him next, and worse apparently the WBC put out a statement saying that Martinez was OK with Chavez fighting somebody else when he said no such thing.

Show me the posts where I've said he's ducking anybody...

My criticism is and always was fighting barker and macklin is pointless he won't gain any additional credit or enhance any kind of legacy...

He has possibly a couple of effective years left, i for one don't want to see them wasted anymore on euro/domestic opponents.

Him dropping the belt is the best thing to do and hopefully dropping 6 pounds aswell to enter a much more exciting 154 division.

Marg rematch, Cotto, Canelo, Kirkland come on Serg make it happen, earn your status...

Marg rematch

I said on another thread a few days ago, Margarito isn't ever going to fight again, and if he does, then he's an idiot.  That eye is going to close everytime he fights so he'll never be able to put in another meaningful performance.  I actually said pre-Cotto II that Margarito-Martinez II was a fight I wanted to see as well.  Shame that Toni will never be the same again.
