Thought I'd start a thread which might be a bit motivating for those starting back at the Gym / looking to get fit
I said the same resolutions at the end of 2010 and failed miserably, I ended up having 4 operations and to be honest I'm fed up of them and the rehab / recovery, I've now got pretty much a new ankle, new discs in my back and neck so in all pretty much solid!
I've got an induction tomorrow and am determined to stick with it - hopefully I will get a decent one, really fancy using the Kettle Bells
Anyone else making an effort?

I'm with you mate! Though I'm going onto a 60 day juice diet which I start tomorrow. After watching 'Fat Sick & Nearly Dead' inspired me to give it a go! i'm hoping it will help clear my asthma. I signed up to my local leisure centre where i use the swimming pool everyday. Works out a lot cheaper using it everyday. Much prefer it than in the gym with all the gym rats. Good luck mate & stick with it. I'm currently doing a blog on my 60 day juice so hopefully will spur me onto fulfilling my goal.

Started today mate. Looking to drop 2.5 stone as done nowt for months and now it's time. Diet, running, the full shabang. As the weight comes off I'll add in some strength and upper body workouts too, but just need to hit the roads for a few weeks first. I have absolutely no excuse as I'm looking for a job, so don't even have work getting in the way! Set myself a few targets as I'm useless without them. With them, I have necessary motivation.

Nice one lads, Tomstrong post the blog link mate or PM to anyone interested, what is the 60 day thing?
I'm going for the low carb thing or rather a lot of protein and 'healthy carbs'

Are you following a set plan (if so have you got a link) or you just doing it yourself?

Here is a link to my blog which I've just started up http://dorsetdogwalker.blogspot.com/ It's 60 days, though I think I'm going to try 30 days and if Im going ok try for 60 days. It's basically raw fruit & veg juiced as your meals each day. The whole idea is to get you use to eating more veg and starting a more balanced diet whilst dropping quite a bit of weight over a short period of time. Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead Official Trailer (External Embedding Disabled) I got the idea after watching this, it's a great doc and follows him on his journey over the 60 days just eating nothing but juice. He has inspired lots of people onto this with great results. Are you following a set plan (if so have you got a link) or you just doing it yourself?
I have a 3 day detox to get me going Roadrunner, then I have a book which I can pick & choose juices from. You can pretty much juice whatever you fancy. I just thought having a book (Jason Vale- The Juice Master) which come with my juicer would help me out. Bought a shit load of fruit & Veg and made myself a few juices & got to say they tasted amazing! And that's coming from someone who doesn't eat much fruit or veg!

In terms of diet it's just a lot of meat with green veg for carbs, I will also have the occasional sugar free jelly and whipped cream or 7g carb Muller Light yoghurt, drinks will be decaff coffee ( missus bought me a great coffee maker) and lots of water In terms of the gym, I've not a clue, hoping to get some insight tomorrow, I've a couple of stone to lose so I expect it'll be mainly cardio, I can't lift heavy weights as I only had the discs replaced in my neck in the middle of October

I've just drank a pint of milk and eaten a full upper deck of Family Circle biscuits.
I've got a 6-pack of dark kit kats and an 9-pack of Monster Munch to start on in about an hour.

I'm looking at dropping a couple of stone too.
I'm not going too scientific with it - I'll be eating less crisps (my big vice), soup or salad for lunch, not eating after 8pm and generally just having smaller portions.
From an activity perspective my time is limited with work, but I plan on getting out for a run twice a week instead of watching shite on TV as well as getting out more with my lad every weekend.
Be good to keep this going, just so we can keep each other updated with progress reports.

Gym 4-5 times a week. 630 am (get the bloody thing over and done with)
Mixture of cardio and weights for a hour.
Day 3 of none smoking and I don't drink January anyhow so any extra 'loose' muscle gained in December should hopefully be gone in two weeks.
Diet,
Stay under 2000 cal (add losing 4-500 via cardio) and you WILL lose weight.
Yogurt breakfast, bananna mid morn. Tuna light lunch late dinner apple afternoon then fish with as much veg as you like for tea.
Oh I have a sugar free energy drink before gym and a recovery drink afterwards.
