Also i pitched up the speaker levels +4dB and the centre +5db for louder dialogue.

Set the speaker sizes to small, with cut-off at 80hz (so they dont get fed with lots of low bass) and set the subwoofer to 85hz (so it kicks in just above handles all that and below).

Forget the audyssey mic auto-set up. There isnt one person ive read, which the mic did a proper job on. It's bollocks and nobody uses it.

Went to look at the new Bose cinema system..a bit pricey thirteen hundred...will stick with my cinema mate

Been looking at the Arcam Av400 looks a decent amp with good spec at a not bad price really need to sell stuff first and start to sort the homes cinema out.

Finished decorating the lounge and found a great AV stand from Gecko. Houses the amp, Sky box and DVD recorder.

New carpet so been able to run some brand new speaker cable underneath for the rear speakers. Also got the Dolby D via toslink now as the HDMI connection was over-riding it.

Tuned in the RDS radio and been using the USB to play music whilst watching the footy instead of listening to the commentary. Absolutely brilliant. Watched some of the Brits last night and although it wasn't a Dolby broadcast, the sound in the room was tremendous. Apart from when Corden opened his fat gob.

Sky box has since gone kaput though. A 10-7 System Fault. Had to reset the box so have lost all of my planner. Think it was just films and stuff but also had the original Hatton v Pac HD on there from a few years ago so now that's gone.

Can't fault the receiver though. The connectivity is brilliant, doubt I'll use most of it. Especially the spotify stuff. Quite happy playing my downloaded stuff through iPod.

If you have hdmi on your laptop, downloading HD fights and blu-ray rips is awesome. The amp upscales the picture and separates the sound channels out.

These prices are well out of my price range

I'm not after anything really special budget of around £150 for a cheap set of speakers and subwoofer

Perhaps look at one-box solution from panasonic or Sony.

Currys have a large range. You'd be looking at around £300 for a decent blu-ray with built-in amp / speakers.
