Brussels is a bloody awful place - booked 5 days there for Euro 2000 but we moved upto Ostend on the 2nd day it was so poor. Like Faulks said, Turks everywhere looking to mug pissed up tourist. You will be better getting a train into Bruges than staying round Brussels - Bruges is lovely, I also hear Gent is good for ale too

Although I dont agree that Brussels is awful I do concur Dave Bruges still has the beer but in a much nicer setting.

Only an hourish  on the train from Brussels.

Can't comment on Brussels, but have been to Antwerp plenty of times on the lash and have always had a great time. It compromised of drinking in about 3 Irish bars/red light  for the weekend and creating your own craic, with little interaction with the locals. Avoid the shitty Turk kebab shops.

If its a stag, you won't need the locals. You'll bump into other Brits/Irish/yanks and have a great time. And the beer is top notch. I stuck to the draft Stella and its great.

I was in Brussles this year when Newcastle played Brugge. Had an absolute fantastic time, head to the main square in the city centre and ask for delirium alley - it's a chain of bars each serving one type of drink only but in hundreds of different flavours, strengths etc. Be sure to leave the absinthe bar to last otherwise you might not see much of the day/night. Contrary to what other people say on here I have visited most of European best city's and this is right up there with best for a lads day out.
