He seems a logical choice good coach done well at the Giants but for me I don't think he is high profile enough. When Michael Maguire came to Wigan he was a complete unknown he had done a good job at the Storm with Bellamy but he came over to SL with Wigan and transformed how Wigan played and made us easily the best team of that year. We suffered a bit last year with the extra games but still won another trophy.
Brown as been over here a few years now he knows the game but he as steered the Giants to fringe contenders and I can't see him taking Saints much better than what they already are. A Coach from the NRL coming over freshening the players mindset always imo as a more positive out look. I mean look at the contrasting records of Daniel Anderson and Mick Potter at Saints thats what I'm trying to explain.

Too much NRL loving. Brown is now a super league coach with a British style for the British game. He will do just fine.

I believe Cunningham is his assistant. I see brown seeing out his contract with saints and Cunningham getting the next opportunity.

Well put.

Brown has taken the Giants from nowhere to one of the top teams this year. He is still only 38 himself.

His only problem, for me, is Giants have always started well and faded badly towards the end. But this year they look an improvement on last year yet again. With a youthful and British backline - I think Lee Smith was the oldest back in the match on Friday between Leeds and Hudds. He's only 25 or something himself! Both teams deserve to be applauded for that IMO.

I reckon Saints and Brown is a nice little partnership which could prove very successful. Saints are team going through transition at the moment. Brown is the man to take them through it and to the next step.

Brown certainly as better players at his disposal when he gets to Saints and I think he will do a solid job. Any decent coach will do well with good players but surely its up to him who is his support staff. I don't think I would want Cunningham as my assistant he should be made to work with the academy then the u21 and then if he is good enough coach the first team.
Not all great players make good coaches Ellery Hanley, Gary Schofield and Andy Gregory all prove that point, if things don't work at Saints in the future does Cunningham keep on surviving because of who he was as a player than his ability to coach and step up as a proven candidate.

Can't believe they have banned laffranchi and wellens the bent twats, not one of the incidents was put on report yet the rfl still F*ck us. I don't even know what wello is meant to of done against Warrington but these jobsworth pricks felt the need to feel useful. Laffranchi has been done with a spear tackle ffs, what a joke.

I have heard wigan have a few players missing such as Tompkins and carmont so they are probably trying to level it up, just as they did by ruling out two perfectly good trys we scored against Warrington last week.

I want to see the playing field level out but not via corruption.

Going off the players that are rumoured to be missing, Friday won't count for jack shit.

You can quote me on that tito if we win or lose.

Mate of mine is a pie eater and says you have six or so missing, be a shame if true.

I thought the Wellens tackle should have gone on report and I was surprised more wasn't made of it on the night, Briers wrote a letter saying there wasn't any malice or intent to the panel but they ignored it regardless  Undecided

Wigan have 9 players out from what I have heard my mate was down at Orrell yesterday morning where the club train and they had 14 players training and where waiting for some of the u21 players to arrive back from a sponsor's function. The forwards are meant to be descimated some of the players like McIlorum and Farrell can barely walk but have said they will play with a injection which I hope they don't. Tomkins is in bed with tonsilitus but as said give him the morning of the game to recover.
The game is a historic fixture but its not the big game it was before SL because it was so close to the end of the season before. I'm sure all the players involved will give it a go but so close into the season its barely worth risking injured players and aslong as we don't allow them to run a cricket score up I'l be happy enough.

I've seen it all, the coke head scum scoring the last. What a terrible display, does not help when you get a sin bin for one foul yet the opponents foul three times on there line and get only a warning.

Aaron you are very bitter I try to act with a bit of dignity on this thread but you adopt quite a brattish attitude when Saints play shite. Shenton did a deliberate foul it should have been a penalty try the same rule in football is a straight red so you can't compere the Wigan offsides which was carelessness and where putting themselves under pressure by going back to the zero tackle count.
Hock as been the best player on the pitch by a mile played the full 80 minutes tackled like a trojan, ran his heart out and the amount of offloads which resulted in big plays and tries as been a pretty outstanding solo effort. Its been a good game both teams have worked hard but Wigan just out played them in important parts of the game.
Saints should look at themselves there kicking game was awful, tackling was poor and more importantly the big name players credited with there recent revival went missing. Roby did nothing McIlorum out played him, Wilkin was quiet and Hohaia should have learned after 5 mins not to kick the ball down Tomkins throat.

Three on the bounce are all careless Tito?

Wigan was miles better I won't try and deny that, I thought both teams discipline was Shite and somewhat spoiled the game. Hock did play well but he is a dirty twat who must of been done three or more times himself yet just talkings too and I can't stand the guy but I know you like him.

Hohia was fuckin pants and did nothing at all, despite losing lomax there was rag all going forward. His kicking was shit, he was stood still when getting the ball etc etc.

I don't think it is brattish to dislike hock, the guys a tit. That does not mean to say I don't think he is any good.

I have said on here for years Hock at his best is the best British second rower we have and today proved it. I bet any Saints fan would love him in there team no player can find a pass like him his distribution is first class and today he was pumped up for the game because he is a Wigan lad and knows what the game means and I don't think he did anything spiteful in the way he played. The game is bound to get tasty any fan today paying good money wanted it to be that way because its the biggest game in RL by some way.
The officials spoiled the game but I suppose they didn't want it boiling over. I didn't see any bad fouling just a few tackles by both teams a little high or a bit late. The overall result at that stage of the season is pretty meaningless but it does show how inexperienced the Saints coaches are by not playing Hohaia at FB and playing Gaskell and Lomax together. As soon as Lomax went off Roby went missing and Saints looked clueless. I like that Kid Tommy Makinson is used to play for Hindley where I played for as a kid so I naturally wish the lad well in his career but I dont think he was well protected early doors and he looked shaken as Wigan peppered him with balls. Shenton as I have always said is defensively shite forget the sin bnning he was caught out for the first try and got turned over half a dozen times.

We gave the ball away so many times in the first half it was unreal, I honestly do not know how Wigan was not more ahead than they where at half time.

Losing Lomax was a big loss and I agree with you about the Gaskell thing, I don't know if he has said or done something off the field but he has been forgotten about of late.

It would of been fun to see Perry and Hock let a few go, shame it never happened.

Lance Hohaia as played FB almost throughout his career with the Kiwis including winning a World cup and a tri Nations series. Why was he not put back to that position in a big game like today instead of throwing in a kid with barely any experience. It showed to me that a certain element of player power exists at Saints and even a few players have said this week they are asked for there opinions on tactics which is laughable considering coaches are there for a specific reason. Gaskell and Lomax are not only St Helens long term pairing they are probably our best chance of gelling a international half back pair together for the long term. Gaskell out in the cold is outrageous if I was a Saints fan I would be livid considering they lacked any cohesion going forward and lacked leadership.
