Stepping into the ring for the first time this weekend. Been training for it the last eight weeks. Not sure how I feel. Mix of Nerves and excitement. 750 tickets sold for the night and I'm the last fight. Roll on Saturday!!  Smiley

You'll do alright mate. Just remember what you been taught and adapt the best you can to your opponent. Most of all relax and enjoy it.

I remember my first ever fight in martial arts. I was buzzing from excitement. Only lasted 1 minute, the guy went down after a few punches.  Grin

Just jab for the first half-round, remember to breathe.

Go through it in your mind, even practice your movement in the ring. Imagine your ring walk, getting in, everything. Get it square in your mind.

Don't get excited like your the next big thing, like what's the best ring music etc etc. sod all that mate - just know what you have to do.

Yeah breathing properly is a big thing for me! With numerous broken noses and the gum shield i need to get it right or I'll be gasping! I'll definitely be starting slowish, High guard, double jabs feeling out what comes back at me.

Yeah I ament getting carried away with the ring entrance stuff, just picked a simple song I like, I'll have a tonne of family/friends there so I wont need anything else to be getting me hyped up.

Its amazing though, I've played competetive sport at a high level for years now, but the level of concentration needed for boxing (even at novice level) is insane. Makes you appreciate just how good the pro's really are, even the bad ones!!

You're not fighting Che are you? Grin Or the masked assasin as he's known since his youtube career...

Best of luck mate, dont worry about keeping your hands up just rely on reflexes like a Brendan Ingle fighter. Grin

I wish Jim. But the masked assasin wasnt available, we couldnt agree terms. He wanted 5%, but I didnt think he was even worth that Smiley

I was thinking more about the Arturo Gatti type, who cares about using your hands to block, or using your reflexes to avoid punches, using your face to block uses far less energy Smiley

Reds is right, if it's your first time then you will be bricking it, ease your way into the fight behind your jab and work on timing your single shots for the first round and build on your confidence from their. Have a good one.

Good luck bud I'll check back for the result. Keep your arms tucked in and watch out for body shots.
