What's skys fault? BN were blaming it on the pay wizard system not being able to handle the demand.

I've emailed them asking if we will be compensated because we've been basically worse off for subscribing than if we hadn't. If they don't do anything my payments getting cancelled simple as.

If thats the case then Im mistaken Brick top.

I read it was sky who couldn't carry out so many activations.

Think about it, they said Virgin was fine, but sky were not.

I can't see SKY not being able to handle the numbers coming through. Surely they've dealt with more than last night?!

Just checked there twitter feed, they definatly said it was a pay wizard issue although it only affected sky due to the way in whch subscriptions are handled. Do you have to sub to sky and virgin differently?

Only Sky channels themselves have the top notch activate-through-your-screen means of activation.

That's because your an existing customer. Your purchase is added onto your monthly bill. Some porn channels pay a fortune to have that facility from sky.

Whereas 3rd party organisations who rent a channel, they harvest their own money and do their own activations manually.

They have to send a signal to sky who then send a signal down to the box. The fun begins when people hold their Sky card in their hand when talking on the phone or submitting the online form.

It could be activated straight away and be missed. They then send a follow up signal to make sure, which could be 30 minsto 3 hours later.

But from what I read is that people were not even able to get through on the phone. They must use a 3rd partly call centre who were understaffed.
