I agree, but hes not a 140lb fighter, took everything Maidana had for 12 rounds and made him look foolish for large parts of the fight, I never said Alexander would win, but if he boxes smartly and moves well, hes every chance of beating Maidana, who is a walk forward puncher with heavy hands, nothing more, even his shadow boxing looks shite! you dont rate his power at the top level?? he had ortiz crawling around the ring, he closed morales' eye shut after 6mins of action, he had khan all over the shop...the guy can bang mate.

does alexander really have this skill set ya talk of?? he clearly lost the kotelnik and mattysese fights and bitched out against bradley with a paper cut over his eye.....even if he did have the skills does he more importantly have the heart to deal with chino?

ortiz and khan are hardly known for their chins? ortiz gets dropped all the time and khan....well..

morales eye damage was from a head clash was it not? memory is sketchy

But were Khan and Ortiz still not considered to be top level, regardless of their chin strength?

Devon should have the skills and speed to make Maidana look ordinary. Morales exposed him I think. He's a puncher and little else

To which I'll add, IF Alexander has the heart to go the full 12. He has the ability to win this by a wide UD.

i dont think ortiz is effective at 140 due to weight making issues, and he really struggled down there, he only looked dangerous after moving to 147 and beating berto.

im not saying maidana has crap power, dont get me wrong but i think at the top lvls his 90+% ko ratio flatters it.

I'm interested to see how both look at 147 to be honest.

I think Maidana is going to have too much here. If he can absorb Devons power early on and get through then its going to be an early night.

I really have to wonder about the PED rumours regarding Devon. In fairness it wouldnt be Maidana's style to cry wolf. So obviously there is some indication to this. Devon has looked SH*T over the last two years so if we see a miracle renaissance and a complete change in power, stamina and strength. Questions will have to be asked. I dont think he was struggling with weight as much as he lets on. I think its an excuse to mask his levelling off in ability.

If you look at the form. All Alexander has really done is Lose unanimously to Bradley, Mattysse, Kotelnik. Beat Wittor and Urango. Its not a terrifying resume. Maidana faired fair better with Kotelnik than Alexander did, did very well against a Khan that was in top form, did enough in a poor performance against a come backing legend of the ring, knock out some mid level opponents. Including Victor Cayo who gave Lamont Peterson a decent fight.

I think Maidana should on form be the winner of that fight.

But lets wait and see what happens regarding the officials and/or Alexander being on a level playing field.

I never can understand the love maidana
gets on here. Jesus I think he is like frankenstien
just plodding forward any 1 else that had khan In
that position would of getting
him out there but he just seemed to get in the way
of himself. And for Alexander he is just
quitter that  all is wrong with the sport. knowing he was
guaranteed another million plus fight after Bradley
he took the easy way out. a sin that must never be forgotten
regardless of what he achieves in the future.

Very interesting fight and I think there's a few question marks for both guys. You could make the case that Alexander lost his last 3 fights (Kotelnik, Bradley, Matthysse). For Maidana, sandwiching the Khan loss were close calls with Corley (in Argentina) and Morales. I still think Maidana would have stopped Morales were he not forced to wear pillows, but also think he showed some of his limitations in that fight as well.

For me if Alexander can take Maidana's power, he wins a decision. If not, he gets KO'd. This being a new weight for both makes it trickier to pick. I'm gonna go with Maidana by stoppage in this one. We'll see.

If Maidana won who would you go for if he rematched Ortiz at 147?

Pure boxing wise id go Ortiz, but Maidana beat him down mentally and made him quit in a bad way. Still go Ortiz though I reckon..

Stinks of PED's... Secret Spartan training camp. No friends or family allowed near it, no reporters. Looks alot fitter, more resiliant, more powerful. Get the man a blood test NOW!!!

Apart from that, easy nights work for Devon. You cant come in with just a plan A at this level.
