I think frank ****** was hinting in the press conference that there is a 'big fight in may' which made me think it was the anderson-groves winner v james degale.

In my opinion, this is a bad move for james if this is the plan because he wont be ready having not fought since wilcewski in september.

James needs to be busy and get that confidence back up. He lost to george but he needs to work on becoming more versatile and ready to adapt to different styles, and he will only do that by getting out and fighting. Time to bite the bullet imo. Get him in with someone he should beat to get his confidence back up and then step him up, or things will pass him by.

I agree with every thing here and i like Degale but he will never become versatile and adapt to different styles if he doesnt start accepting decent sparring.I couldnt believe he didnt jump at the chance to spar Froch because it would benifit him alot more than help Froch prepare for Ward.

Spot on mate. James is an exceptional talent and i am a massive fan but I wouldn't blame anyone for seeing him as an on-top fighter at this stage. He needs get serious, get spiteful between the ropes and get working.

We said it for clev and the same applies to degale, go on tour in some gyms in the states where no one knows who he is and all they want is to take his head off. That'll show him if he wants it or not.

hes gotta do this now, he is going to end up having a pointless career otherwise.

right now he is even though european champion, still number 2 in the country behind groves. (excluding magee and froch).

ive said it from day one, james needs to fook off to america and become a fighter all over again. This BS with sticking where hes at aint gonna bring him the glory he believes he can bring.

He has an american (floyd) type style that if trained by the right person will make him into an untouchable nightmare.

But... its all good having the great potential, its having the right components to bring it all out.

Degale won a Gold medal at the Olympics on the back foot and didn't look doing it. He as looked good in patches since being a pro but his style is pretty easy to work out the higher he as progressed. I think he is a good fighter but I don't think he will be become a World Champion at any time in the future.

Good points tito. His style is pretty much to try and frustrate the opponent with his movement, stop the opponent getting set and then nick points here and there. That worked wonders over 3x3s and against fighters who are at a distinct speed and technical disadvantage but falls down a bit over twelve rounds as the levels go up and the fights get more competitive. I still think that the basic attributes he possesses of good feet, balance, defence and speed can be moulded into an excellent pro style; I just think he needs to slow the feet down, get tighter when working in range and hit with a bit more snap and authority. In retrospect you get the impression that he has been strengthening his strengths and neglecting his weaknesses.

I thought in the past that his fast feet and busy style would take him a long way straight from the start but I was surprised how george and then wilcewski have figured him out quite comfortably. He needs to acknowledge the problems and adapt.
