http://www.boxingscene.com/team-bute-froch-what-ward-kessler-refused---50183

Promoter Jean Bedard of InterBox gives credit to former two-time WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch (28-2, 20KOs) - because the British boxer agreed to fight IBF champion Lucian Bute (30-0, 24KOs) on May 26th. And Bute made substantial concessions to get a deal done, as he travels to Froch's backyard at the Capital FM Arena in Nottingham.

Bedard hopes the move by Bute will crush the recent complains from the critics who claim Bute is unwilling to take a dangerous fight outside of Canada. He also hopes that win over Froch will open the door for a fall clash between Bute and WBA/WBC champion Andre Ward.

"We had to concede that the fight would take place [Nottingham]. But ultimately, this is what Lucian wanted. His primary objective is to be recognized among the best at 168. Lucian could have made a decision to stay quiet and wait for Andre Ward in the fall, with a large purse and American TV - but he wants to fight. He just turned 32, and he is ready to face such challenges and the fans are ready for this fight. I can tell you that he's not doing it for the money, he is doing something for his supporters," Bedard told QMI Agency.

"[Lucian] does not want to waste his time. He wants to face the big names. He said that in 2012 he wants to compete against the best at 168 pounds. Unfortunately, Andre Ward does not want to box against us right now, so Carl Froch was the ideal opponent. [Froch] has shown that he is extremely courageous. He agreed to deal with Lucian, although at home, it was something that Ward did not want to do, and Mikkel Kessler also wanted to avoid. If going through Carl Froch is the key to go to Andre Ward, we'll do it."

Full Marks to Team Bute if they agreed to travel to Notts for that fight.
They won't be getting Ward this Year and even if/when they do,it won't be at 168 anyways.
Better get ready for the rematch Clause with Froch or taking on the Dirrel Brothers later on .

Getting back to these 2,I feel Froch has been Great for Showtime and they need to Carry this fight coz it will be an exciting 50-50 fight.

So who's Ward got in mind for his next fight anyway Motorman? In your opinion atleast? What's Virg's take on the Froch-Bute clash?

No top secret stuff too please mate, spit it out.

Well Ward is waiting for Kessler to capture that WBO belt and then he will jump at the opportunity to rematch him.Kessler is still the WBC Champion in recess so Ward wants to fight him so he can be Fully fledged WBC Champion should he win .
So Ward sees incentives for rematching Kess coz he can become Fully fledged WBC champion, capture the WBO belt, set the record straight from 2009 by doing it in a foreign/neutral country with no controversy.
He also has to sort out some Contractual issues with managers/Promoters/networks etc.So Its still up in the Air if he retains the same Alliance or he might defect .
Otherwise his future is still unclear with more questions to be answered in the upcoming months.
With regards to Bute/Froch,I have not spoken to Virg about it.
I feel he will be checking out the fight for it looks like a great 50-50 match up.
Still pissed off at how Showtime is not carrying the fight, lets hope HBO picks it up but its just wishful thinking I guess.

Thanks for the info mate.

So is he gonna take a keep busy fight in the mean time or just hang back in the shadows and wait for Kessler to beat Stieglitz? I can't see him waiting it out and just stepping back in the ring with Kess later in the year but then again, stranger things have happened.

Is this based on media reports and quotes or are you hearing it from Ward himself?

Its based on Inside Info I'm getting .
Very hard for him to get a stay busy fight coz he's scheduled to fight his Mandatory opponent Anthony Dirrel, but that fight has got Red flags all over it. Lips Sealed
Don't know how they will maneuver themselves out of that one.
We just have to wait and see how the powers that be handle the upcoming months.
So brace yourselves for some twists coming up.

i dunno if this lucian bute will actually show up.

lets be honest now, a lot can happen between today and may 26th.

this is a real challenge for bute, his first foray out of canada in a long time. i'm suspicious of everything in the fight game, this is too good to be true. . . .

sorry to sound negative

sorry Eddie :-((

Ward ain't fighting simply because his hand ain't fixed 100% and he's got a baby due.

Showtime won't get him back, they stink lately - and Hershman's the man.

I think Team Bute feel confident coz they want to strike while the Rod is still hot, meaning they feel Froch is a bit down after his loss so best time to fight him is now.
They want to silence their Critics and if they go ahead with the fight then full marks to them.
But stylewise ,this is a very dangerous fight for Team Bute.
Bute is not the most Ilusive guy out there,if you can time his movements which follow certain  patterns, then you can nail him.

I think it's a bad move by Bute personally.

He's not forged a mindset fighting in backyards and all the adversity that goes with it.

People take it for granted, but it's a big learning curve indeed sleeping in a foreign bed, climate and time zone - and the ring walk against him will be deafening.

Likewise Froch's spirits will be on a high with 10,000 behind him.

I bet,

It's been what, a 6 year wait too ?

I remember discussing this with you and Decebal in 2007.

Whatever happened to that prick ? he was awful.

No idea what happened to Decebal. He's gone from ESB as well.
