This is obviously a serious story relating to smoking while pregnant, very irresponsible, but I couldn't stop laughing when I read she had been stripped of mum of the year by Foxy Bingo, puts Fred Goodwins Knighthood being taken away from him into perspective!!

http://www.mtv.co.uk/news/stacey-solomon/351296-stacey-solomon-smoking-pregnant-this-morning-tears

Stacey Solomon broke down in tears live on TV during an interview on This Morning yesterday (6th March), as she was quizzed about pictures of her smoking while seven months pregnant.

As we previously reported, The X Factor singer was snapped puffing away on a ciggie, with the image causing outrage among members of the press and the general public.

The 22-year old, who already has a son called Zachary, has since apologised for her actions, with Foxy Bingo later stripping Solomon of her 2011 Mum of The Year title and axing her from this year's shortlist.

Speaking of the controversy on This Morning, hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby grilled Stacey about the dangers of smoking while pregnant, with the I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! winner struggling to hide her emotions.

When asked by Holly if she had considered the harmful effects smoking may have on her unborn child, Solomon replied: "At the end of the day, nothing that I can say makes it right.

"All I can say is that from the day I found out that I was pregnant, I have tried my best to give up. I completely understand why people would be angry, because for some people it's uncomprehendable.

"I understand that it's a selfish thing to do, so I don't think the comments are unjustified, although I do thing some are a bit harsh."

Stacey insisted she has "100 per cent cut down" on cigarettes since finding out she was pregnant, explaining: "'As soon as you get pregnant, you think you need so stop. I did smoke between 5 and 10 a day, but I completely cut down and from there on I have been trying to stop.

"I'm smoking between 1 and 3 a day, if that... I just thought I would be able to quit. And some days I've done really, really well and had none but there are some days when I have had some. I'm doing my best to just go without, but sometimes it's not just as easy to cut it out."

Struggling to hold back her tears, Solomon added: "I don't condone it in any way and I think it's important that people know that. I don't want people to think it's OK or that I think it's OK."

Speaking of the decision to dump her from this year's Foxy Bingo Celebrity Mum of the Year campaign, Stacey added: "I feel that they have to set a good example so it's absolutely their decision and I have to accept it because at the end of the day they can't be seen to support that."

Schofield was later criticised on Twitter for being 'too harsh' on Solomon during her appearance on the ITV show, leaving Phillip to hit back: "I hardly think so!!"

He later tweeted: "Ok, I think 8 hours for the smoking whilst pregnant debate to rage on my timeline is enough! Important as it is #letstalkaboutsomethingelse."

I heard she has decided to use the Uncle Buck 5 years plan:

Buck: Hey, I stopped smoking cigarettes.
Cindy Russell: Oh, good.
Buck: Isn't that something? I'm on to cigars now. I'm on to a five-year plan. I eliminated cigarettes, then I go to cigars, then I go to pipes, then I go to chewing tobacco, then I'm on to that nicotine gum.

Agree, a girl I know on Facebook was sticking up for her and said millions of women do it. I said it doesn't make it right! If there was ever a time to quit smoking it's when a baby is growing inside u! She said you're male Chris u don't understand. I said don't give me that! You can be male or female to know it's bad for the child! The only ppl sticking up for her are fellow smokers!

no, i'm a fellow smoker and find it discusting seeing women who smoke while they are pregnant. She has a choice to smoke and knows the damages to her but her baby has no choice in the matter. If i ever got pregnant i imagine its the only thing that would make me stop instantly

Before I say this, you have to understand that it's very odd for me to say this as I hate smoking possibly more than anyone else in the world! But......

Smoking is an addiction, and if someone is on 40 a day, how easy do you think it is for them to stop completely immediately as soon as they find our they're preggers? I bet she tried!

What annoys me most is those who probably don;t even give a toss or even try (thanks Mum....)  Roll Eyes

Well she's obviously finding it pretty tricky! Yeah no excuse I guess. Bet she's still not given up. Ain't against the law though.

I smoked for 5 yrs and had no problem giving up, i still dabble in the odd few now and again as i still enjoy it but given a good enough reason its easy to stop for a 9 month period.

my grandma was on 50 plus a day and she managed to stop after 50 or so years of smoking so i couldnt justify that as an excuse.

selfish caaa
