what a good fight from macklin? he executed a great gameplan, i dont think ref let work inside though which imo should have been allowed. aside from that i cannot believe how good martinez is, he really only had to step up a gear and he took macklin out. he needs someone like mayweather to cement his legacy, he has stopped his last 5 opponents and doesnt look to be slowing down either.

great effort from matt just not good enough.

all in all a superb night of boxing and tbf FW shows look shite in comparison and rightly so. looks like eddie hearn and crew have taken the mantle by the bollocks.

Martinez wants Mayweather. Lou Dibella offers Floyd 80% of the purse.

I seem to be in the minority here but i just dont get the hype, frankly Martinez' last two performances were not ones of a P4P top 5 fighter

Macklin frankly isnt that good and should have dispatched with a lot more clinical ease

Give me Monzon any day of the week

I was with you on that but i changed my mind slightly on saturdays performance, Martinez impressed me a lot more and I actually think Macklin deserves a bit more credit, he fought well before he gassed out and i reckon they should have let him go out for the 12th and if he got dropped again then throw in the towel.

Who cares about pound for pound? It means zero. Martinez is an excellent middleweight champ. You don't always have to be the new Ray Robinson or Marvin Hagler. Give me his fights where he struggles for a bit and scores late KO's than a 12 round 120-108 danceathon. Credit to him for actually hitting the big time after 5 years of his career going nowhere, he's actually blossomed and fulfilled his potential.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that thought the stoppage was just a tad premature.

Dont get me wrong, when he did finally wake up after the 'knock down' he looked all of the fighter he is billed to be

My problem lies in that in the fact that he is deemed as this beast of a fighter on the Mayweather and Pacquiao level. While i see the potential, i just dont buy into it when guys like Barker and Macklin are pinching rounds

As i said i can see sparks of talent that could make him one of the better middleweights of all time, however at 37 i just dont see him going long enough to seal that status
