Very true that, I think it was Tito that said a while ago a very true comment, the American "Irish" funded the IRA for years not really understanding terrorism at all, 9/11 woke them up to the harsh reality of it

I say it all the time all those twats in NY, Chicago and Boston were clamouring for pictures and tickets for fund raisers to help buy armalites and semtex from Bosnia and Libya in the early 90's and the US government especial Clinton did nothing about it at all. We pleaded with them to refuse Adams a visa but they let him in without realising what he was doing and more importantly invited him to the White House and allowed him to collect Millions in donations. 9/11 was a horrible thing to watch but that incident woke up the world and showed the Americans the implications of state sponsored terrorism. The Yanks contributed to British deaths in Ulster, Germany and on the mainland by donating money so as much as I felt sorry for what happened on 9/11 I was glad that the US would finally outlaw fund raising and effectively cut off there only way of maintaining a armed struggle. The PIRA have had no option but to keep to the GFA as a result of decommissioning because now they have no way of buying or importing large amounts of weapons or explosives from abroad.

The Americans today have no real connection to Ireland. Most of the people who descended from the Irish settlers of the Potato famine and later are like 15 generations ago and some have married hispanics and afro americans so there is people who are 1/10 german, 1/10 irish/ 1/10 jew, so on and so on. Why they feel the need to be associated to a country most of them would struggle to find on a atlas is puzzling. No disrespect to them but its same as the Italian Americans too you get all these Malignaggi types with the wise guy talk and its inherited by fathers and Grandfathers and passed down like some masonic handshake. People like myself who have Irish Grandparents and literally over a 100 2nd cousins over there is something I don't embrace. I don't see myself as 1/4 Irish or anything I have never been to the ROI nor do I feel I want to play on something I feel any allegience or have a connection with. In Summary the Yanks are attention whores and because they have no real history of there own its far easier to latch on to hundreds years of past immigration.

Thats because you spent a few years shooting us poor f*ckers Spot on Tito, its all about there you are raised and what traditions and values your raised with. Someone like Mackli is accepted because of his strong connection and there are alot of genuine Iriesh spread throughout the world. But the way some people go on is embarrassing. I work in Dublin City Centre and the amount of idiots coming over from America that havent a clue is embarrassing. I suppose the only good thing is that Bord Failte clean up on tourism.

My nan was Irish who mostly raised me as a kid as my parents worked hard every hour of the day.
My cousins would come over from Cavan. And my uncle is named after the place.
Dont like Guinness though, so I guess i fail the paddy test.

I see a lot of them when they come over for funerals, weddings and football matches and they are all good people. Years ago I was a bit wary when I was serving in Omagh because I had some relatives in North Belfast and a few in Dundalk and both areas have a strong republican presence but they didn't care for anything. My cousin Ger is the nicest man anyone could ever meet he told me no Irish tax payer in the South wanted to subsidise the North purely because there economys at that times were miles apart.
