Hello chaps

Just wondering if anyone on here uses one of the above? I'm looking at getting one but can't decide. The Kindle is obviously the big dog, but is a bit iPodish in the sense that I can only use the Kindle store. Whereas a Kobo one can use epub, which apparently libraries use..

Any actual reviews from you lot? Looked online a bit and can't decide. Even the price is pretty similar!

I don't think there is a massive difference. I would get a Kindle myself and covert the epubs so they're readable on a Kindle

I've got a Kindle and I love it, just wish it was backlit so I could use it in bed.

As see I've got an iPad and it's sound for reading in bed but wank for reading in the sun so it's all about balance

If I go away, I will get a kindle I think but still take my iPad

Apple will eventually make a device I can take in the heat for more than ten minutes I'm sure  Smiley

Haha. I didn't realise it wasn't until I turned the light off and WTF it's all gone dark now got one of them clip on light thingies.  You can get any book you want for free if you want to rip  just need to convert and hard wire to your kindle still working my way through the hundreds of books I have on mine. I love it

I don't even understand it,  but when I buy a book or download a free book from amazon for my kindle it wirelessly transfers the purchase within seconds to my kindle.  To rip free books I have to find the book on my computer googling free "j k rowling"  plug my kindle into the computer and ask it to convert into kindle format (i get mark to do this) and it downloads the book (slowly) onto my kindle.  Can ask the techno geek tomorrow how this works if you want.  But every book that has ever been published is out there,  I did purchase a book of amazon on how to get every book you want for free  it was too boring for me to read though  Sad

You use a software called calibre, it's really simple it converts books to mobi which is kindle format, but don't convert PDF coz they are crap, paragraphs all in the wrong place a d stuff like that, your kindle has a email assigned to it which is your email address but changed to kindle.com at the end. It's so simpe it's unreal, if anybody wants ny more info let me know

i got a sony e reader before christmas to take on holiday... but it wouldn't talk to the pc and the shop to buy books direct from using the router was not available. i had a heck of a job taking it back, they refused the first time but on the second visit after speaking with a manager and looked at my purchase history (my partner buys lots of tv's for his aerial business) they agreed to give my money back. i have looked at the kobo a few times but not taken the plunge yet.
