Anyone watch this on ringside last night? Really good show indeed.

Then after was a one hour special on sugar ray Robinson. Explained his life, the mob and the biggest fights he had.

Obviously these pair fought before some members were born - but if you watch either of these shows it will give you much of what you need to know on either of them.

I missed ringside [the cat was in labour] but I saw the SRR doc his amateur record was stupid something like 85 fight 85 wins 65 by first round KO his pro record was crazy to fighters used to be made of harder stuff not wrapped in cotton wool.

Pure class he wasnt just 1 type of fighter he could do it all and do it all brilliantly. The term elite level fighters is banded about SRL was above elite.

Didn't get to see it for obvious reasons but these doco's is what some of these Mayweather fans should look at before making fools of themselves by hailing him as the second coming of christ. Some of them sit down and masturbate over him by beating up Gatti, a confused fighter who was a sitting duck. Corrales who nearly killed himself making the weight and Hatton who came at him like a crazed drunk. All tailor made for Floyd.

Nothing more sweeter then 'Sugar', both are in a class of their own.

Spot on. Versus Leonard who STOOD and fought with Duran! And knocked out Hearns. And knocked out Benitez. And beat Hagler. Incredible.

I didn't really appreciate him at the time as I was a Hearns fan, but imagine what he'd do today...

Hilarious how every single thread gets turned into a mayweather thread by some haters  Roll Eyes

The fact that you even feel the need to say SRL beats mayweather shows how highly you actually hold him  Wink

On the other hand, Leonard also had a fair share of catchweight fights. Three including against Duran and another that allowed belts from two weights to be on the line just so Leonard could achieve becoming a 5 weight champ. I'm not defending Floyd, just saying.

It's a fight I'd love to have seen, I don't think it's a given that SRL would beat Mayweather simply because his style is brilliant defensively but it would be an epic fight

God I hate it when people can't praise one fighter without bringing another name in to a hypothetical match up. SRL was a brilliant fighter who won a Olympic Gold medal before having a steller pro career he was one of the greats of his era who was probably the best out of his 3 main rivals as he was the sole one to hold wins against all 3. He drifted in and out of Boxing and carried on a big to long but in his pomp one of the best boxing brains and a very clever fighter.

Amen to that, same as people can't praise fighters cos they're rivals to their own fighter

Are you listening Mayquims and Pactards??

No I see your point Skav. Like Doc, I was more of a Hearns fans, infact I was a HUGE fan of Hearns and viewed Leonard as the enemy. I didn't appreciate or like Leonard at the time but can see now what an incredible fighter he was.

To the toes I've trodden on with my snide remark, sorry fella's, nasty habit I've got and will pull up on it. It's got nothing to do with rivals or hating, all to do with what I first said. Sit and watch a few tapes of some of the greats in past time before making outlandish comments about Floyd becoming the greatest of all time based on an HBO highlight real of him beating up meat pies and tin cans.

For the past 2 years rarely did a day go by without someone mentioning juice and peds or just being anti Pac in general. Rather then moan about it I just skipped the post of the main culprits and talked and debatated with others.

I know some are just annoyed that I don't share their opinion on Floyds greatness whilst to the others, apologies fella's, no more, I know how annoying it is and will do my best to pull up.

Anyway just to finish up with, Hearns crushes Mayweather 9 times out of 10. Just an opinion, not a fact so go easy on me, I'm not hating :-)
