Nathan Cleverly’s promoter Frank ****** has his fingerscrossed that WBC light-heavyweight champion Bernard Hopkins comes through hisrematch with Chad Dawson in April as he wants the former undisputedmiddleweight king to face Cleverly in a unification bout in Wales this summer.

Hopkins fought out a two-round farce with Dawson, 28, lastOctober before injuring his shoulder and the two will fight again in AtlanticCity on April 28th. ****** doesn’t believe that Dawson would agreeto face Cleverly but is worried that Hopkins is fighting on borrowed time at47.

“I’ve been talking to Golden Boy about Hopkins and I’d loveto do that fight but Hopkins has got a tough fight against Chad Dawson and Ithink Chad Dawson may have his number,” ****** told BoxNation.

“We’ll see what happens but I’d really like the Hopkinsfight for Nathan because I think it will bring out the best in him. Hopkins isa legend and we could do a great show at the Millennium Stadium or Cardiff Citysometime in June, that’s what we’d like to be done”.

Cleverly, 25, came through another American in TommyKarpency tonight in an easy defence and maybe prepared to travel to the US forthe bout as he told his army of fans after the bout.

“I am going to go to America one day so pack your bags andget ready, let’s go!” stated the WBO title holder after the fight.

Why Hopkins and not just the winner? I guess they thinks Clevs workrate will catch the eye against Hopkins, it appears to me they want nothing to do with Dawson.

I noticed that and I agree with your reasons as well.  They'd be looking for Clev to win based on the volume of his shots and Hopkins having slowed up even further coming up towards the end of the year.  On the face of it, it appears they don't fancy Dawson at all style-wise.

Any version of Hopkins beats Cleverly, who has only beaten european cab driving muppets, plus the chances of Hopkins being silly enough to come over to be ripped off are slimmer than Demi Moore with some of the decisions going around lately!

This really is a lesson in alienating the public on Amir khan levels. He uses the name of a popular, genuine fighter to get headlines. He fights complete dross and will only step out of domestic class to fight a man 25 years older than himself. If this is how his career is going to progress I wish he'd have stuck to that fuckin maths course he couldn't stop rabbiting about.

Yeah he let that slip once in an interview. Tends to be kept quiet though.

He's got adegree in Maths

i can already see whats gonna happen. Theyll make Hopkins a dross offer which he will of course turn down. Meanwhile using BH's name to justify putting Cleverly in with bum after bum while spouting the fact that they want Hopkins but he dont fancy it.

His friend/idol did it and people call him a legend for it, just saying.

Calzaghe had already fought a fighter for the title who was far better than anything clev is ever likely to fight.
