George Groves must travel to Germany for his world title challenge against WBO super-middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz on May 5.

The British and Commonwealth king was recently made mandatory challenger for the WBO title and Groves has now confirmed he will face Stieglitz at the Messehalle in Erfurt.

Speaking on Twitter, Groves said: "Is fighting for the WBO Super Middleweight Championship of the World!!!!!!! ... And your (sic) all invited!"

The 24-year-old has been absent from the ring since November as he was forced to pull out of a fight against Kenny Anderson due to a back injury.

But Groves has already fought in Germany and America during his unbeaten 14 fight career and is unlikely to be concerned about facing Stieglitz on his own patch.

Stieglitz had made five successful defences of the title, but he has been stopped twice in 43 fights.

Hopefully he'll fight the best in his division but will probably come up short against the only two world class people in the division. Maybe three in Bute.

Claws are out in this one, people forget a guy with 14 fights who put it all on the line at domestic level is now going to one of the hardest places to earn a decision for his first world title fight.

The guy pulls out of one fight being a rematch of a guy he has already beat and its moan time.

He should fight another fifteen bums I guess.

People also forget the guy he pulled out from also gave him his hardest fight to date and almost put him on the seat of his shorts.  Wink

Well he did take him to a thin decision, depends how you look at it.

Neither guy was really ready for the other when he fought Kenny, I expect George to beat him comfortably next time if it happens.

I for one am pleased for Groves and hope he does the business...

Any Pro boxer with sense would have made the same call in pulling out of the Anderson fight. It's Groves job his career when you dream about being something i.e a world champion boxer and someone offers you a very winnable shot to become one you snatch there hands off. I'm not saying i don't feel sorry for the fans who were cancelled on at short notice and Anderson who got a ruff deal but if he's as good as some people on here think he is which i don't agree with then he can actually 'earn' his rematch down the line anyway. If we're brutally honest this rematch was a gift for Anderson not many people get rematch's for being taken out in 6 rounds.

Good luck Groves you have my support.
