Ok i am a total noob to facebook, just got it
Normally when i get friend requests i get a little red one at the top of the screen and an email saying xxx wants to connect.
I had a look today and in the find friends section there was a request with confirm or not now
is this an actual request or a suggestion? i tried making my facebook completley private :/. There was no email, no red 1 at the top of the screen. Any ideas?

Check your settings in case they've changed. See if the email notification for friend requests is ticked. Facebook frequently change settings as policy. It's quite annoying.
Do you know the person? If not I think you can message their inbox to ask them who they are.
Also some profiles seem to be shell like, as in not real people. They usually only have game updates and little on the profile and you haven't a clue who they are.
