This wasn't a spend camera and the copper wasn't put of his car, in a 30 zone doing 34ish, as I have a bit of a habit of when changing gear givin it abit of gas! Anyway driving pass what I thought was a parked cop car was the officer in the drivers seat with a small camera that seemed to look like it was attached to the wing mirror! Was this a trap? I've come home and my dad has said that he thought they 1) they had to be visible they were speed checking and 2) a sign with a camera icon visible! I know theres a limit for a reason and fully expect to take the wrap if so

More likely to be a Insurance/Tax checker. Reads your number plate?

Yeah I would of thought this, otherwise they would all just sit on their arse rather than stand with the guns.

Was their not another cop car further down, usually the insurance things have police set up further down to stop those who pop up without insurance etc?

Speed trap/camera IMO, they do it like that a lot down this area (N-Wales).....I would of expected them to come after you though?  May be you were only doing  10% over the top say 33 instead of 34?  Granted i no some people have still been done at that speed but i thought they allow 10% in some situations.

There needs to be a sign within half a mile on the stretch of road mate. I'm pretty sure that's what they said on my speed awareness course... If you do get pinched for it you will get to go on a course... As long as it was first time in 3 yrs... And you weren't going too fast.

Thanks guys for replying...

@Arron - not to sure if there was another cop down the road as I turned down the next street after passing the car

@RoadRunner - yes I always thought that they clock your speeding and then would chase you or along the same line in what Arron is saying in which they would send someone after you at least?

@jimjack - that's what my dad said about the sign! Or that the vehicle had to have the camera icon on it

On my speedo there is no 35mph mark or even or even 31, 32, 33... For that matter just smooth to the 40mph mark so when I drove past the cop and noticed this camera thing and looked at my speedo I must of been doing anything from 32-36mph

Pretty much what Jimjack said.  Had my speed awareness course in Feb and the guy specificially said there has to be a sign before you approach the camera/trap so at least you've been warned before you actually break the law and get flashed/caught.

It'll be like Faulks said, it'l be one of them checking that tax and insurance are all in place, they do that quite a bit now although they normally have a specific car for doing that.
