The vast majority of posts sum up all that is wrong with British pride, or lack of it. I can't wait for this once in a lifetime sporting festival. The best athletes ever to live coming to the uk to ply their elite trade. Everyone should be proud and excited ( not just londoners), and this whole 'it's for southerners' crap really irritates me. We live in a country smaller than single states in the us, yet we moan at a 3 hour drive (or 1 hour flight at tops). This talk of 'them londoners' getting all the benefits makes us sound like stereo typical miserable northern twats. As well for Scotland's response... Don't get me started. Miserable sweaty buggers is all I can say. Hope chris hoy gets a puncture. joke btw, I hope he wins and brightens up your moaning lives. Nothing wrong British pride mate. It's just people can't afford it these days.

As part of my job I have to go up to Glasgow monthly, and normally find most people to be decent. However mention the Olympics and the bigot comes racing to the surface, spittle flying from the lips already distorted by hate. This certainly isn't the case anywhere else I've been.

so you go to one place in Scotland and the whole place thinks that ? . i speak to folk everyday in my job ,(not just from one place) and i would conclude your talking bull shit as most folk aernt bothered with this, and i talk to folk from Essex/manchester/Bristol amongst other places , look at the responses to this thread, you have people from Wigan/Nottingham amongst other places that share the same view as the people you speak to in Glasgow....

How can i hate the english when im half english myself ? That's even worse, you hate your own. Just joking btw. Perhaps I am just going on people from Glasgow, and that's probably wrong. However my point is that while you may get people from all over saying they are not bothered, the response I get from people in Glasgow tends to be more about how London centric the country is and then spout some misguided crap about devolution. However I was wrong to saddle everyone the same.

I couldn't give two shits... You know London will F*ck it up. Even if the events themselves go down without a hitch, you know there will be chaos at the airports and the transport in general.
Not to mention the terrorist threats...
The London Olympics won't be anywhere near as good as the commonwealth games in Manchester.
It's got nothing to do with British pride... I'm a Manc... it's all about the 'Manc pride' I couldn't care less about anywhere else.

How so?? Nobody cares about athletics in this country. The only time people tune in, is to watch some of the events in the Olympics or worlds, even then alot of people are ambivalent. when was the last Athletics meet you went to? Exactly, don't pretend your some kind of die hard athletics fan. Nobody gives a damn about the athletics season. I dont care where the Olympics are held, I won't be watching it. I might tune into some of the events... otherwise I'm apathetic towards the entire event.

It's a celebration of sport and also a celebration of the culture of the hosts. Miserly little nay Sayers like you should rightly keep out tho. Would hate the rest of the world thinking we are a nation made up of people with such an attitude. Btw messi has been in the Olympics, that should be enough for you.

I can see your point on the Athletics and it's defo valid BUT it's the olympics, every man and his dog will watch the 100m at a very minimum, it's always a huge race especially now Usain Bolt is ripping it up. I personally am really looking forward to it all now especially the Boxing with the amount that have qualified but I'd watch it if it was hosted by another country too

Well if on the off chance that Messi plays then I might change my view.. Read the headline again... ''anyone bothered about the olympics yet?'' It hints at the fact some people might be ambivalent ... Well I am, Baring a few events. Miserly little Piss heads like you shouldn't be so dogmatic and allow others to have there own opinions irrespective of your views. Are we all here to agree with you? The headline to this thread does not read.. '' You must all be bothered about the olympics..for the sake of offending and upsetting jimjack''Read it again.
