I do not put any effort into my diet or health and other than the occasional routine of wellman, maybe some neurozone and the occasional garlic tablets I do not take supplements very seriously and I know we all should endevoir to do our best.

Ive always wanted to be a real buff when it comes to health products to know the ins and outs.

For instance most of us know that vitamin E is really good for slowing down aging, and then of course there is all the other letters like b c and d and they do other cool stuff :-)

But thats not even half or a quarter of the story.

Look at this list from mens health and I dont mean to make this a long post but Im hoping with others input a sensible list of standard going people can be made, Im not a sports professional but you dont have to be to take a multivit and a few extra bits.

Any way my point is there is UNTOLD stuff out there that is "ment to be good of you".

Look at this top ten list from mens health
http://www.menshealth.com/nutrition/top-10-supplements-men

BORON TO PROTECT YOUR PROSTATE
CALCIUM
CHROMIUM TO WARD OFF DIABETES
COENZYME Q10 TO BOOST ENERGY
CREATINE TO BOOST MUSCLE AND MEMORY
FOLIC ACID TO CUT ALZHEIMER'S RISK
GLUCOSAMINE TO GREASE YOUR JOINTS
OMEGA-3S TO PROTECT YOUR HEART
SELENIUM TO FIGHT OFF CANCER
VITAMIN E TO SLOW THE EFFECTS OF AGING

And thats nothing there is another 18 here:
http://www.menshealth.com/mhlists/best-supplements-for-men/acetyl-l-carnitine.php#slidetop

Then you have stuff like Ginseng right, aloe vera, garlic is good to keep up your defense.

Is any one knowledgeable about this subject because it always seems to me that there is always something out there you should be taking and its your fault you did not realise that if you have not been taking x y or z you are more pron to get this or that and....

Tommorow im going to get a box of wellman from boots but I know thats not nearly enough, we could take a course of vit E on top of that easy.

Who is taking what here for health?

Feel free to post away any thing about health.

My tips:

1-Dont drink tons of coffee every day and do late nights it catches up and your toast.
2-Drink lots of fresh water.
3-Dont smoke or drink diet drinks or even soda
4-If you ride a bike or your on the roads a lot get a mask to filter out the toxins.
5-Ive found a good product called Prevagen, its pretty awesome for mental clarity if your into clear thinking for work or what ever.
6-allicin c, guy invented way to get the good stuff out garlic. One pill is like eating 36 CLOVES of fresh raw Garlic

Some one post a health tip, keep the thread going.

Also its fine to post pictures of fit women as an alternative to a health tip  Grin

First serious question.

I am in the UK, I am 36 and I want a website that stocks all of the serious must have health products.

Where do I go?

What ill do is edit the top of the page and as members add stuff to the thread ill put the good stuff in the first bit, good idea?

Another suggestion:
Oxy-Caps
OXY-CAPS is a supplement of stabilized, bioavailable oxygen (“vitamin O”)  that gives your body additional oxygen so your cells can function at their optimum for increased health and vitality. Oxygen has unique antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties

Its only a matter of time before some one brings up noni Jucie any thoughts on it go head.

B-vitamins are legendary, not only because they support the metabolism, enhance the immune system and promote healthy cell growth, they also lift (if one suffers from it) depression (mild and moderate) and anxiety. Chromium picolinate also rids one of depression and anxiety! They gave me a dramatic increase in energy and a much higher motivation to get things done. 50-100mg (sometimes twice a day) is what I take. What you need is a B-complex vitamin because taking just one B vitamin (example, B12) from a group won't work as they all interact with one another. So, as a rule...always a B-complex in the 50mg-100mg range.

Magnesium is said to be the silent cure for deafness and the hard of hearing. I've got bad hearing in my left ear due to noise damage and I regularly get fluid in my ears which cause noise sensitivity and an increase in hearing loss. Eating magnesium foods gets rid of this particular sensitivity and increases my hearing. Brown rice, bananas, spinach (especially) and pumpkin seeds contain good amounts of magnesium but I've had best results eating green veg like the spinach. The mag you can buy from supermarkets is crap because it just passes through you as it's so cheap. You need to fork out quite a bit to get the proper kind on ebay or a health shop.

I'm doing a LeanGains program (Intermittent Fasting) and have started taking BCAA's along with Protein shake but I know I am massively missing out on Vitamins. Thanks for the thread, I will have a look at those lists. I've found online is better than any shop and the only time Hollands and Barretts is decent is when they have a penny sale

I like my vitamins, but I usually only take a multi vitamin, and other skin supplements sometimes, although my skin is much better than it was years ago, so I'm not as concerned now.

I'm currently taking GNC's Meca Man multi vitamin supplement, which was the cheapest multi vitamin I could find in Hong Kong. It seems like a good one though. It's crazy over here as the only multi vitamin most chemists and supermarkets sell are Centrum, and they're incredibly expensive. It's like they have a complete monopoly on the multi vitamin market in HK. You will very rarely see any other brands. The cheapest pack is about £20, which I'm not prepared to pay, unless it was for a pack of 90, but this is for a pack of 30!

I used to just buy Tesco's multi vitamins in the UK, which are less than a fiver I think!

I like the idea of using Prevagen Bud, but not sure if it is sold in chemists here, I'll check it out..

To the OP.

Before thinking about supplementing your diet, you need to take care of your nutrition.

There is no substitute for a good eating plan. These vitamins are supplements and be used as such, not as replace to healthy food.

I smoke mine with a few rocks of crack.

LeanGains sounds to be good but you need to balance that with some exercise, you need to really do that program seriously.

So for example, we used to be on the plains and forrest hunting, our bodys are or where built for hunting and eating, so in modern mans day to day life we are not in phase with all those thousands of years of evolution and necessity.

So maybe it is good to not eat for 18 hours, then sit down and eat a nice big meal... then repeat your body will better get into not fasting but work mode of the matabalism? right.

Your not stuffing some thing into your face every 2 hours and your body is constantly going back to process stuff, it can focus on being Me. or you.

I like this idea and post away but topic is about some thing different thou.

Also on other topic, if you are working on some thing, some times there is benift to do a 4 8 hour shift, with s small break between of only a few hours.

Dont know if any one knows what I mean but if you have been up for a long arse time you enter a serious state of mind, life is not all nice and warm and cuddly you are actually gettingin the zone, you mind power becomes evident, what you think about becomes more and more important and if you are working on some thing or doing some thing you really get to a level of excelence.

You have to be a bit nutty and head strong, and im being serious I would recommend to some people they activty do a 48 shift at least once a year, once every 6 months even in middle age.

I did a 48 hour shift with 2 hours between for rest and I did ok and was flying about being really productive.

+1 for the LeanGains, would love to do that in an outback situation, like camping or hiking.. you would lose UNTOLD weight, at least a stone.

But I expect you would pay the price with toxins because your body would be getting into those areas of burning that we are actually men to be doing as men but we dont we just grab sandwitches and coffees and buskets and sit down a lot.
