Drug tests aside there is a lot of talk from both camps now regarding the split on money due to how each performs at the box office.
Ive just done a quick google search on each and found the below numbers, im sure they probably arent entirely accurate but it shows that for the best part Mayweather does the bigger numbers but manny has also out performed him in regards to numbers against some common opponents.
I personally think that something like 55/45 in Floyds favour is reasonable, some will see this as greedy but in a business sense he can make huge sums regardless who he fights, manny whilst making very good money just isnt in the same leagues. I remember when the Hatton fight was being made Manny held out for the bigger percentage as he wouldnt agree 50/50 but in the end he had to because he knew that the fight wouldnt happen otherwise.
If and it is an if the mayweather cotto fight does 2 million as is being estimated, then manny has no hope in hell of getting 50/50 and in my opinion wouldnt deserve it.
He states he wants 2-3 more fights, well then fight floyd for 60/40 then cash in on the next one if you win or why not have a 60/40 in this one with a rematch clause.
That way its big money twice!!!
Common opponents
Cotto
Mayweather estimated 2 million Pacquiao 1.25 million
Mosely
Mayweather 1.4 million buys Pacquiao 1.2 million buys
Marquez
Mayweather 1 million buys Pacquiao 1.4 million buys
Hatton
Mayweather 850,000 buys Pacquiao 1 million buys or so various reports
De La Hoya
Mayweather 2.14 million buys Pacquiao 1.2 million buys
Non common opponents
Mayweather Vs Ortiz
1.25 million (Second-Biggest Non-Heavyweight Money Show Ever due to purchase price)
Pacquiao Vs Margarito
1.5 million
Pacquiao Vs Clottey
700,000

It is a hard one, from a fans perspective I think we would all agree that 50/50 for the stand out two fighters of their era to fight each other is more than fair.
But as Floyd is seemingly taking PPV buys to the next level then I think anyone who says they can not see why he wants a bigger split is blind or stupid. I would not know what Floyd stands to make if Manny settles for his flat fee of 40 million but I would guess it being even so much as double what Manny would get given he is raking in upto thirty plus million for fighting Ortiz and Cotto each.
As a percentage I would agree to the 55/45 split, if Manny could get that he would not doubt still make more than 40 million what Floyd has offered him a month or two back.
Even if Manny accepted a 60/40 I would think he still makes more than the 40 million Floyd offered him, it is PPV where the money is made not the ticket sales which Manny dominates.

I remember being told that the fighters usually get about $25.00 between them from the PPV. Lets say that raises to $30 between them cause they will obviously charge more for this fight than any in history.
That means PPV based on a conservative estimate of 2.5million buys would generate for the fighters around $75,000,000.00 raising to $90,000,000.00 should they do 3 million sales.
The live gate would probably be about $18,000.000.00 plus
Then you have the money coming in from the sponsors etc.
So you are talking about roughly $90-$100,000,000.00
That is just my naive way of looking at it.
Im probably missing loads of things but when Floyd is already making aroun $60-$70 million for a fight I can understand why he wants a bigger piece of the pie.

I've always thought why don't they do 40/40 and the winner gets the other 20?

Floyd should get the bigger slice because he is his own boss. He as no promoter taking 35% away from his earnings so how can Pacquaio ask for 50/50 when Pacquaio is under contract with Top Rank. Manny as done big numbers not as big as Floyd but his net pay is far smaller than Floyd's. Mayweather could get $60 million for the Cotto fight Pacquaio will probably never see 1/3 of that when he fights Bradley. Floyd is bang on about getting 60% and Manny 40% purely because 40% of a large pot will give Manny his far biggest purse where Floyd could fight Khan or Brook next and still make $50 million regardless. Mayweather as proved in recent fights he don't need a dance partner propping him up he is the man the people buy into his PPV's. Pacquaio was offered $40 million and turned down because of one reason only he was going to have to sort out Arum's slice of the pie.

Ok so say Floyd get 55% and Pacman 45% does Pacman then pay Arum out of his slice ? which would mean Pacman will be getting close to what say 30% of the overall and Bob 15% that to me is exactly why the fight isn't going ahead.

Floyd says maybe it can happen when Pac finishes with The BobFather, does anyone have any idea how long he has left with him? Not saying Pac would leave him just would be interesting if Pac only 1 or 2 fights left because as soon as Cotto left that fight got made, albeit in different circumstances.

Yeah but who's fault is that? Bob would still be getting a fair chunk out of the extra 5% if Manny got it. Pacquaio has his contract set up that way do he will never come out 50/50 with Floyd after expenses.

Say you add up the gate money, PPV revenues, sponsorships, merchandise and other bits and pieces and it all comes to say roughly $140 million. Mayweather Promotions provide Floyd, Jesse Vargas and Laitmore on the undercard and Top Rank provide Pacquaio, Urbano Antillon and Yuri Foreman as crespective opponents. You then split the promotion 50/50 between Mayweather and Top Rank so that they get $70 Million each and pay there side of costings like advertising, flights, hotels, staff wages and so on and then they pay the purses which is about $400k for each camp for the guys on the undercard. Floyd walks away with $69 million and so does Top Rank. However Pacquaio as to accept that Arum is on 35% of what Pacquaio grosses so he can't under any illusion ask or accept that he is getting 50/50 because its not Floyd that is liable to pay Arum's share.

That's what I'm getting at Floyd Vs Manny can't get 50/50, Floyd will always make more.

Its a shame Koncz and Arum can't explain that to the casual fans and people who don't under stand how the business works.

If Arum feels Manny is dragging his heels till the contract is over you would think he would be trying hard to get the fight made now. Either way as long as neither one is being overly ridiculous with the split demand the fight should still happen for their legacy. I for one won't give a bollox about either one making only 30mil or whatever if they don't fight. It's no excuse for a fight of a generation not to happen.

Problem is every one knows Mayweather beats Pacman, if Pacman was at his absolute drugs induced prime and Mayweather is say, 2 to 3 years down the road then he has a good chance.
Pac man will get paid very well to fight and lose vs Mayweather but he is stepping in vs no1 p4p.

I would think that Manny means 50/50 in respect of team, not per fighter. Another 10% of the gross with be a fair chunk of the 35% he would have to pay Arum.
Of course 35% of 50% is more than 35% of 40%, but Manny would make more overall
Using rough figures of say $100Mil
35% of $40Mil is $14Mil - leaving Manny $26Mil
35% of $50Mil is $17.5Mil - leaving Manny $32.5Mil
