It will be an absolute nightmare getting out of the area and back into central London !!
It took me and two guys on here a few hours to get back after the Mitchell Katsidis fight. There is one station and its not that near to the stadium. When we got to it having left with the masses there was a huge que into the station. We decided to walk to another one a few miles away having asked a local where the next station is. We got there eventually but it was a right pain.
This fight will have a lot more fans going too so i would take it that if you get back to a club ( in Covent Garden for example ) as a bonus and not a dead cert you wont be disappointed if it doesnt go to plan.

We're booked into a hotel not far from the stadium, not interested in getting back into the city til the next day.

Hey up Clowny, hows it going? I got an hotel in Bloomsbury when Bolton were at Fulham, thats a decent area - a good few ale houses and easy reach of Euston/Kings Cross if thats where you need to head to on sunday for going home. Its also walking distance from Covent Garden and Leicester Square.
If you want something a little bit different - Camden is pretty decent too with a good freak show of a market on sundays

A few tips..........
1) Personally, I wouldnt bother too much about getting a cab. The traffic will be a nightmare around the stadium at that time and you could be waiting a good 30-45 mins in traffic. You could take a 1km walk to East Ham, which is the previous stop to Upton Park. That should mean that you beat a lot of the queues. Alternatively, Stratford is about 3-4km away (not far) and with the Olympics coming up theres plenty of transport links from there.
2) I would personally look at staying around Shoreditch, Liverpool Street, Moorgate area. The City (financial part) isn't busy during the weekends, so you can get some cheapish hotels at times around Liverpool Steet and Moorgate. Shoreditch is a 5 min walk away and is quite a trendy part of London to go out in now, lots of bars/pubs etc. Plus it's over the east side of town, so will be quicker for you to get back to and give you some valuable extra drinking time!!

We're at the Radisson Blu Edwardian- New Providence Wharf. It's on the riverbank in Canary Wharf area, not sure if it's walkable from the stadium, but it's pretty close. Maybe someone who knows that area can clue me in. £150 for a deluxe room, but there were cheaper options. Though obviously, like I say, no use to you if you are set on going into the city afterwards :-) We're at Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park on the Sunday, so I couldn't cope with partying into the early hours :-)

You're best bet would be to get a train to West Ham station. Change there to get the Jubilee line to North Greenwich. That is where the O2 arena is. About 25 mins from upton park. Alternatively. Go to west ham station and get the jubliee line going the opposite direction to Stratford and check out the new Westfields there. Loads of places to eat and a casino there. As for Upton park itself, unless u fancy a bar room brawl in one of the pubs not much around there. hope ive put this in the right place, dont wanna wind you mods up
