Thats not really what devo max is TBH, we'd remain part of the UK continue to use the pound share the same armed forces and pay our share toward the national debt. Basically we'd have full fiscal autonomy which is all money raised in Scotland stays in Scotland if its raised from Oil and gas it stays here same with the Whisky industry TAX, NI and VAT all stay in Scotland we could also set or own VAT rate and our own income tax rate.
We have 8% of the population so we'd pay for 8% of the armed forces same with the national debt, westminister would still be in overall control but would more or less be taking a back seat to the Scottish government. The UK stays as the UK.
Part of me says that sounds like a reasonable compromise. The other part of me says it's just a cop-out and either independance should be total or not at all. I'm not yet sure which one wins the day to be honest. But then, I'm one of those who hasn't researched this anywhere near enough to come to an informed conclusion, much like the vast majority of those who are likely to be voting on it. Therein lies the problem
