I aint never broke my jaw thank god so I aint going to be slagging off Ortiz, this is not as bad as him quitting against Maidana imo. Madiana he quitt because of bruises and it was tough, a broken jaw is a big injury in any sport nevermind one where your face is going to get cracked for another 12 mins or whatever.

Well said Aaron. I'd love to see what people of this foRum would do in his situation. Although a huge percentage would never know because closest they come to fighting is changing the battery in their wireless mouse

Cracking fight surely a contender for fight of the year. I actually think Ortiz was genuinely hurt there I also think the ref was excellent and should take a lot of credit for the way he handled the fight.

Exactly. Too much is made out of a loss nowadays. If its a loss due to injury then that's taken into account in my view. Look at Vitali against Byrd. He made a hard decision to quit in order to not injure himself further. That's not quitting. It's sensible in a lot of circumstances. These are work class professionals getting hit with world class power on broken bones.

Yeah, the "quitt" slagging off that a lot of fans - including on this forum - are levelling at him is harsh.  That was a hard fight.

I think Ortiz took his preparation lightly.  He looked very ring rusty.
