Vitali Klitschko is unlikely to face David Haye due to his political commitments, according to the Ukrainian's manager Bernd Boente.

Haye flattened Dereck Chisora inside five rounds at Upton Park and later declared his explosive performance has ensured Klitschko will avoid him.

Boente mocked the suggestion the WBC world heavyweight champion, who faces Manuel Charr in Moscow on September 8, is running scared.

And while he insisted Klitschko's priorities lie elsewhere, he refused to close the door on a showdown with Haye completely.

"We offered Haye the fight September but he chose to fight Chisora instead because that was easier for him," Boente said.

"David probably turned Vitali down because he got more money against Chisora, who is by far the easier opponent.

"We had a contract ready for Haye, had booked an arena, but he turned us down for a second time - the first time he chose to face Nikolay Valuev instead.

"After fighting Manuel Charr, Vitali goes on the campaign trail for parliamentary election in the Ukraine. He's the leader for the opposition, UDAR.

"Should he be elected on October 28 then he will probably stop boxing. For him politics is the future - he wants to fight for democracy.

"But even if he's elected, maybe he'll want to have a farewell fight. At the moment David Haye means nothing to us and Vitali is definitely not afraid of fighting him."

Neither Vitali nor Wladimir Klitschko watched Haye's victory over Chisora as they were in their home town of Kiev where the fight was not broadcast.

Boente was unimpressed, however, and claimed Chisora's performance was worse than when he lost to Vitali in Munich in February.

"I was more disappointed by Chisora's poor display. He was out of shape and looked in better shape against Vitali," he said.

"Saying his performance against Chisora was too good, that Vitali won't want to fight, was typical Haye.

"He has a big mouth and is like a little dog that yaps.

"We all know the calibre of fighter Vitali has fought in the past, including Lennox Lewis. I'm sure he's not impressed by that performance.

"Chisora fought a stupid fight and was completely open. Vitali would also have knocked out Chisora had he not suffered that injury in the third round.

"He fought Chisora with only his right arm, he could not use his left arm any more."

Vitali should just retire anyway, he looks too slow, too many injuries etc plus his age will of course take their toll

Isn't this just typical of fighters at the elite level.

Spend a life time kicking cans around the ring, and the moment a result justifies a contest between two of the most elite fighters in any division, suddenly one of them wants to become a politician, but not before fighting yet another novice pro to cement his retirement plans.

It's pathetic. Haye has earned the right to face Vitali by smashing someone who took Vitali to the wire. Haye may have come up short against Wlad, but at least he fought the apparently best in the division, something which Vitali has seldom done.

Moron.

In four years he has smashed Barrett, retired the biggest Heavyweight of all time for the WBA strap, chinned Ruiz and Harrison, lost only on points to the best HW in the division due to injury, and smashed a guy who took Vitali to the wire.

You're bias does not reflect the facts.

Compare all those opponents to Wlad's and we have a very awkward conversation pending, because that chap has been content in smashed tomato cans far too often in recent times.

In the passed year, Wladimir has faced Mormeck (who Haye chinned five years ago) and Thompson who were both in their 40's, passed their primes, and coming off long spells of inactivity.

Where is the dignity in that? He's top of the division, and that's the kind of example is he setting?

At least Haye is looking to challenge himself by setting up the elite contests which fans crave, and define an era.

Your prejudice blinds you.

I agree with that. I watched the fight and don't see what was so impressive about Haye but the fight was a bit scrappy because of Chisora's clinching. In fact, he was gassing from the second round on! Vitali won't be scared by anything he saw last night. Both Wlad and Vitali have fought the best their division has had to offer over the years and they won't be scared by a David Haye.

He should stay active and clean up the domestic scene just for the entertainment of his fans. Both Price and Fury could have their heads knocked off.

Vitali is probably retiring this year or next anyway, doubt they can hide how far gone he is any longer, no matter who they hand pick, I personally think the Adamek fight was his last great one.

haye complained that all the brothers did was knock over tomato cans, then went and did the same himself.

Then talked himself into a fight with his pathetic harassment of wlad. once there he did nothing.

I dont think hes ever been serious about the HW, he thought he could just swan in there, beat wlad, who he considered to be weak chinned, then retire as some sort of saviour.

It doesnt work like that, as poor as the division is the brothers turn up in shape every time, it isnt their fault the rest is garbage. Theyve put themselves in a position of dominance.

also, should he win I dont see what beating an injured and over the hill vitali would prove now anyway, he is clearly on the slide.

Its a shame really, Haye should be remembered as a quite brilliant and entertaining cruiser. He's a mouthy gobshite, but a good fighter.
