Need a new laptop for a combination of business and personal use and thinking of switching to a MacBook. But just wondered what the main pros and cons are. Anyone got one/ use one and able to comment?

Cheers fellas.

I've got one its been great getting on a bit now and its a bit beat up. Most software can be bought for them I've been very happy with mine thinking of getting an i-pad due to the age of this machine using that as I mainly just surf the net and post on forums and using the macbook as a back upload cds on store photos etc. I can't praise them enough.

I used an early imac when i was doing my design degree and have always preferred them since then. I've had a few laptops as well but they've always slowed down and conked out over time. I've had a Macbook Pro aluminium unibody for the last couple of years and i'd never go back now. It's an awesome piece of kit.

You will obviously pay more compared to a similar spec laptop but i personally think it's worth it.

Pro's:
* ease of use
* doesn't slow down
* no viruses
* the trackpad is brilliant and really intuitive
* excellent screen
* durable

cons:
* you'll have to acquire software to read certain files etc sent from a PC
* can pass on an infected file to a PC user that doesn't affect your mac

Obviously the cost of the Mac is a big downside. Though everything about the mac beat any laptop on the market.
I have a MacBook Pro and is the first mac I've ever had. And I will not be buying anything else from now on.

Takes some getting use to from a normal laptop, but after a bit of fiddling and play it's an awesome bit of kit.

All I got to say is, If you can afford it. Buy a MAC!!

I've never had a mac book so I'm not speaking from experience but I couldn't justify spending that much on a mac for the spec you could get on a pc for the same price
