I think it was the will they/won't they, isn't Broner a prick talk that was solely responsible for any interest in the fight.  Before the issues started at the weigh in there was next to no mention of this fight anywhere.
Which ever way you look at it,for better or worse..........bottom line is HBO scored staggering Ratings out of a fighter who was not even known a few months ago coz he was only fighting on Undercards.
That is a short in the Arm for the Sport as they have been desperately searching for a Young draw-card.So they believe they just found one and he's been offered another Headlining act in October in AC New Jersey.
Now with all the recent Press he's been getting post Escobedo, plus a Bigger Promotional Budget, its safest to say his next fight will even do Bigger Ratings coz Interest in his career has truly kicked off,not just in America but also around the World.
Our PPV Channel MAINEVENT will definitely be carrying his future fights as shown on their Website.Love him or hate him,the Sport is delighted to have him on board  .

MainEvent are a pack of gronks who think boxing only exist here and in America. They show one-sided mismatches instead of snapping up fights that on paper looked like crackers and ended up being so. European fighters don't get a look in with these clowns.

It goes to show just how out of touch they are with the boxing public here. No one here gives two shits about Broner, no one other then probably you and perhaps some other lost Mundine supporter. I spose, if I don't like it then just don't watch it line will come next and that's fair enough. It just irks me to think they will show this fat cutns fights against overmatched opponents and bypass the really good fights.

I've been told the decisions to show fights on MainEvent come down to 4 women, is it little wonder why we nearly always end up with comical mismatches?

Broner by the way will gain some interest here if and when Tomlinson steps in with him. The fight with Kickett didn't do it, he has been sparked again since by that joker Elomar.

*sigh*
I partly agree with a few things you said, especially some bad decisions Mainevent has made in not Televising some Eurpean Cards ie they pulled the Rag out of the Froch/Bute fight.
They have put too much Faith in Mundine even though he's passed his best and Danny Green the Blown Up Club Fighter who never defeated a single Champion.
But they have also made some good decisions like how they supported Katsidis,Daniel Geale fights and Kostya Tyzou was supported very well by them.
About Broner,I have some bad news for you.
His last fight will be Raplayed for Free on MAINEVENT every Wednesday Night throughout August and that guarantees one thing.........Exposure to the Broader Public(Especially young Audience) .
His antics no matter which way you look at them, will always attract young audience coz of that Rebellious streak he always puts on.
So contrary to your hopes, many viewers will actually tune to his October fight coz he's just hard to ignore once he's captured your attention.
Rightly or wrongly that's how the World works.

Most of Tszyu's fights were shown on Sky Ringside & Sky Channel. MainEvent landed him after Bill Mordey passed on Vlad Wharton was caught out for being a snake. Tszyu showed up very late in his career on MainEvent and by that time was as big as Fenech left off. They would have been stupid not to see the dollars Tszyu generated.

They treated Katsidis like he didn't even exist. It took dozens of abusive emails to get them to start showing his fights and I think it was the Mitchell fight where they finally pulled their fingers out.

Geale was on FoxSports up until he was badly ripped off against mouth Mundine. They have had a rough time trying to sell his fights.

They tried their hand at throwing Darchinyan on PPV which backfired. No one was interested in him.

They have been shocking at giving us good fights. Broner wont catch on here. The public have seen and been bored to death with Mundine's antics, they wont fall for it again with another loud mouth. The teeny boppers seem to be into that UFC thing now anyway, only hardcore fans are sticking with Boxing. Broner will be like a shooting star that sails through the air, lighting up the night sky and will fade away, burn up and disapear. I wouldn't get your hopes up to much with him.

hehe.
Well Mundine fought Cab drivers and people were foolish for that.Mainevent only began to take over Sky just when Kostya began his surge. In other words he was one of the Pioneers of it and Mundine was able to Cash in after him. They supported Paul Briggs very well until he lost his Prime in those Adameck fights.Darchinian was rightfully supported coz he had won World Titles anyways.Daniel Geale was unknown and had to start off the Fox sports just like all Aussie based fighters do,until they raise their stocks.Danny Green also started on Fox Sports, then was moved to Mainevent. So nothing wrong with how they took on Geale, since he proved himself and he's enjoying their backing.
You have your opinion about what Interests you,but you can't determine what others will like.Bottom line is people want to be Entertained,so with the guy you loathe,he knows how to define the term entertainment.
Its not like he will be taking on Cab Drivers,he will be Facing Champions and thus what's its all about.

There's so much irony in this post.
