I think when he uses it his defence is not that bad, he gets caught when he opens up in slug fests which anyone can have happen to them.

If you look at the defail fight he was sharp and elusive for large parts, only getting caught more once cut and by degales head more than his fists. Early on defale was chasing shadows.

Room for improvement but not a huge concern.

How can you compare Degale fight against anyone top at SMW you're talking about 2 pro novices going at it... As for *looking sharp* I and many people had Degale winning that fight.

You had defale winning because you are always wrong    Grin

I compared Georges defence not opponents, he made tonight harder than it should of been, easy done when wanting to impress.

Its hardly like I said he has mayweather like defence, just when he fights with his head I don't believe it to be s a major issue. I also did say it does need some work as do many aspects of most twenty four year old 15 fight or so kids.

Booth will ruin him. Having to many hard fights so soon. He is not good enough to jump in with top guys, tonight has proved this.

Tonight was his first fight in fourteen months, he gets hit a few times off a tough fighter and you reach that conclusion?

I look at it that he is fighting his rivals domestically, and guys who won't be blown over easy on an international stage. To me while risky that is the best way to bring a good prospect through, sure its risky but that is boxing.

He has passed every test asked of him so far, what he takes from these fights could be priceless when stepping up. For example having to fight over seas, fight bigger guys, blood in your eyes, big punchers.

It ain't easy at the top so why make let it be easy to get there, khan has probably suffered from an easy route to the top.

Tonight George has the us fans and promoters talking/tweeting about him. I don't see defale, smith or Anderson ever being mentioned.

Just finished watching the fight cheers Aaron  Grin

It is what it is a learning curve fight great finish and some fine body shots shown by Groves. I think he'd come unstuck by a pressure fighter however it might bring out the best in George.

Good fight to watch, not great. Bit of ring rust on Groves at the start of the fight, he was getting caught with silly shots, his left hand was definately down to low for large parts of the fight, that's a problem, he seemed to address it later in the fight but he better remember it in future. Thought Sierra did well for most of the fight, took a lot of good punches, especially a crisp uppercup at one point, but fair dues to Groves, he took the nasty cut and went on to win in style. Not a hope that will be healed by September for the Anderson fight, thing looks like a gunshot wound!!

Groves won't be the next best brit. He's being over-hyped by half of you, he will beat stigletz or whatever his name is. Will be KO'd when he moves in with the big boys. He was seriously lucky against Degale, was in serious trouble against Anderson and was hurt with a body shot last night, also he cuts badly.

He is an on-top fighter, he will give out hidings but can't take one, defence ? He doesn't have one...

His resistance is poor, both his chin and his body.

Can't see the 'big deal' over Ginger ninja.

Carl Froch put him on his arse with 14oz on I think in sparring. That says it all really.

Maybe he could fight a faded champion and defend it against eastern European bums for twenty or so occasions?

Good fight, Groves showed guts to overcome the cut and do the job. I've seen some say that Groves is taking a step back. Not sure about that. Sierra was tough despite his record.
