Calzaghe UD. Don't forget that he did have a bit of power back then and his hands were in better shape so he'd have give Johnson something to think about. It wouldn't have been an easy fight but Joe would have had too much for him.

I think Calzaghe may have shaded him in a tough fight.

Thats not the point though for me in this discussion, its the fact he pulled out of 3 proposed dates.

Joe messed Johnson around big time and then after Johnson told Joe to screw-off, he then beat Roy Jones and then Tarver, Joe never breathed his name as a professional ever again.

Nope. Joe fights on the front foot and is fast and aggressive. Jones was more powerful and faster and had a better defence. I can only see a KO for Jones from the middle rounds on. Especially at lightheavy.

If you look at it from the context of the fighter's personal situations, I believe that Johnson would have won this fight; Joe was going through a messy divorce at the time and his head was everywhere, whilst Glen was hungry and needed the money to put his daughter through college...these little mental quirks and nuances can have a massive impact on a fighter's mentality; you only have to look at Hatton going into the Pacman fight to see that his mind wasn't right (due to problems in the camp) and this obviously affected the way that he fought...fighters are professional but they can't help being human and negative emotions will impact on anyone, and there's no where more honest than a boxing ring...
