My best boxing fight of the last decade i'd agree with Watt was the Hatton Tszyu fight but the most exciting boxing moments of the last decade has to be the build up to the Floyd fight, the build up to it was so exciting it was unbelieveable.

Regardless of the outcome, it was the build up/fight of Ricky Hatton vs Floyd Mayweather. Afterall, it's what got me interested in boxing  Smiley

Hatton vs Tszyu was my night too.

I threw a BBQ at mine as it was great sunny weather, had about 3 wheelie bins of ice / water and about 40 friends round from 6.30pm onwards.

Had some decks set up, people brought records and DJ'd and we all got hammered and then someone shouted "its on!!"

We all piled inside and i had the sound wired up to the amps and it was like being in MEN.

We were all hammered and my mate turned the volume down and said "Right, tell us all whats going to happen mr Boxing Anorak" to me.

I said Kostya was such a puncher, that if Hatton could weather the early big power shots, throw Kostya off his slick boxing mid-rounds, he could grind out a late stoppage due to Kostya's age or nudge it by a point. It's a big big task for Ricky as Kostya is better in every department but is older.

It panned out as i predicted (thank god).

But it was sad to see my idol lose, but his time was over and there was no better man at that point in time to take over the mantle from 'the man' than Richard Hatton.

That sounds Buzzin mate! Whenever there is a big fight I get a load of mates round drinking n pissing about till fight time, but nothing on that by the sounds of it! That's certainly given me a good few ideas!  Grin

mayweather v hatton 4 me . i remember the atmosphere 4 an hour before hatton coming to the ring , i tried to sit down one stage but couldnt with adrenalin jolting through me , not quite the result i was hoping for but something i'l never forget after growing up watching the big fights at silly oclock to actually being there 4 the 1st time something that will stay with me all my life ,

the dunne v cordoba fight came a close 2nd for the pure spectacle of 2 fighters putting everything on the line and esp with with ireland winning the grand slam in the 1st time in 80 odd yrs earlier on in the day made that night a little better

I would see McCroys Point If Lewis was 29-30 and Tyson was around 23 but it was pathetic to watch Tyson was so dissapointing and Lewis just threw the big jab all night to make sure Tyson didnt get near. Apart from Lewis geting a great victory on his C.V the fight was a let down in general. It just happned to late.

Wasn't Hatton-Tszyu on in the early hours of sunday morning,to accommodate Showtime?

I recall listening to the fight on the radio at that time.

Probably, but the whole event and build up were huge as I remember. There were alot of people(even myself as a misguided 11 year old) who thought that Tyson had a good shot at beating Lennox.

For me, the fight that stands head and shoulders above the rest over the last decade:

- Trinidad Vs Hopkins at The Garden Sept 2001. Location location location

Two other fights that spring to mind:

- De La Hoya Vs Mosley at the Staples Centre, June 2000. Had everything every Superfight should have.

- Trinidad Vs Vargas at the Mandalay Bay, Dec 2000. Had everything every Superfight should have, and more. Undefeated records, knockdowns...To have seen any Tito Trinidad fight in his prime would've been great.

I don't think it was a superfight at the time(I may be wrong but I don't think Mosley was much of a name at the time). The fight itself was one of the best of the decade and probably the greatest welterweight fight since Leonard-Hearns.

Their rematch had alot of hype and it stunk unfortunately.

Ruined Vargas that fight did too.People forget just how good he was at the time.Vargas also had a fantasic fight with Quartey that year too.

I take your point, suppose it depends on your definition of a superfight. But at the time, to me, it was a superfight.  Considering the reputation Mosley built as a Lightweight. There was more money involved in the rematch thats for sure.

True about Vargas. He was never the same again. Those kinda beatings ruin fighters.
