Has anyone thought, maybe Carl is abit deaf? He has perforated his eardrums afew times (including before this fight) I remember between one of the rounds Rob was shouting to Carl and he wasnt listening, Rob even shouted "ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME" at which Carl looked to him abit suprised. Ive done my eardrums afew times, it hurts alot and obviously affects your hearing!

not sure about that mate ? but i,ve never thought of it...... like you say though , perforated ear drum would do this !!! and this IS what he had before this fight !! ( the injury ) it does affect your hearing.. and affects your balance....... i did talk to carl on way home, and he seemed fine though !! maybe wrong ear !! i dunno.... ?? His hearing is bit hit and miss I imagine.
Perforated drums is a nightmare.

Had it a few times. Nothing serious, imo, and surely no excuse for anything. Never went to see a doc with it. Never had any balance probs (twice was during Ju Jitsu training and it didn't affect me adversely). Probably also depends on the extent of the perforation tho. Carl shouldn't mention it imo.

With respect, you never even went to a doc, so how do you know you've had it a few times ?

Try to take a bath and put the head under water with a perforated ear drum. Stinging pain like lightning when the water enters through it. That was the first time and steep learning curve. Alternatively, close your nose with the thumb and index finger and blow ear into your sinuses like one does when diving a few yards deep under water. With a perforated eardrum you will feel and hear the air exit through the ear. Not funny at all.

I perforated my eardrum in the Bahamas diving into a swimming pool pissed. Didnt see the EmDoc as they wanted $300 just to look at me, I thought 'F*ck it, thats alot of beer money' and waited til I got back to England. Taking off and landing was like having my head squashed in a vice! My doctor said I shouldnt have flown with it (wish someone said that whilst I was in the Bahamas! an extra week there wouldnt be no bad thing!) My balance was F***ed, I couldnt train for awhile, let alone do any boxing - let alone against a pro boxer like Kessler!

I couldc imagine that the flying made it worse. I believe you. Just saying that it didn't do anything bad for my jitsu training for which I needed a lot of balance.

I'd rather take a shot to the head than a good body shot.

I had 9 weeks off work with an ear infection that led to a perforation.I had to go to hospital as the pain was absolutely unfookingbelievably bad (the dehydracodeine they gave me were absolutely brilliant though,I was in another place in space with them!). My balance was well off plus any sort of loud noise or high pitched noise sounded very muffled and made me feel very confused and disorientated. The ringing in your ears when you try and sleep is also a right downer. My infection was extremely severe and I was only at 1 point a few mins away from the eardrum bursting and losing hearing in 1 side permanently. I don't know how bad Carl was with his ear problem and whether or not it was caused by an infection but I just wanted to point out that these are'nt just simple earaches that go off within the hour after you shoved some cotton wool in ya lug holes Btw 666, I reckon you just get too much shampoo in your ears mate

The return of our very own californian mma/boxing specialist. Where have you been all this time. Training for the Kumite? I heard Jean Claude Van Damme looks strong this year.

Chong Lee's opponent has just pulled out of an exhibition and word is our very own Shaolin has put his hand up to fill in Good luck mate.
