Carl Froch vs Mikkel Kessler - IBF/WBA reg.

« on: April 25, 2010, 02:07:20 PM »

http://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/anden_sport/boksning/article1335757.ece

According to Steve Bunce, who apparently sad just under Frochs corner overheard Froch at around round 8 and 9 saying: "He F****** kills me with those bodypunches" sounding all desperate.

I have to agree that Mikkel did a good job on the body.

btw. Steve Bunce also thought Kessler won.

I haven't seen the fight yet (downloading) but from what I've seen in the rounds by round I've read. It was an excellent fight. So congrats to both guys.

Body punches can be a bitch. Ask Bute's recent opponents. Cheesy

I have to say I agree slowed him down from the second round and was the turning point in the fight.

Didnt Carl swear whilst in his corner after the second round I think it was, they apologised for it on TV, something like "those body punches hurt like a c*nt!"  Grin

Tremendous fight, I had Kessler by 2 but Froch showed some serious heart coming back in the last few rounds.

The 11th and 12th rounds were worth the price of admission alone. We are talking Barrera-Morales type intensity!

I'd rather take a shot to the head than a good body shot.

I'd rather have a good shot of vodka than either to be honest  Wink

I honeslty dont think any other super middle weight out there could take the shots that Kessler and Froch were landing on each other.

I read an article recently where Froch said that he generates his devastating power from his waist, hence why he carries hands so low...

Kessler did a great job in targeting Froch's body to sap him of his usual strength and power...despite the fact that Froch was putting 100% effort in, he was just physically unable to generate his usual power from his waist (especially in the last half of the fight) due to Kessler's work to the body...

The fight is up on the usual torrents websites for boxing.

A quick google search should get you there. I dunno if we're allowed to post links to stuff like that here. Cheesy

Nothing better than a fighter who throws well to the body. A good shot, even if it doesn't produce an instant result, will follow the fighter and does not go away. Its a shame we don't see more fighters embrace it as part of their game.

Fair play to team kessler, they got their tactics spot on.

i honestly thought Froch would be the one targeting the body , Calzaghe hurt Kessler to the body late in their fight and with Carls power he would have done some major damage  downstairs but then McCracken more than likely told him that he just didn't follow up.
