A couple of years ago, Steve Prescott, former St Helens, Hull and Great Britain Rugby League Star was diagnosed with a rare form of stomach cancer. He has since set up a Foundation in his name to raise money for Christies Hospital in Manchester and the Rugby League Benevolent Fund (raises money for many thngs, including to help young players who suffer serious injury - many of which are wheel chair bound). Last September he completed a 11 day, 200 mile walk from Hull to Old Trafford, visiting many RL grounds in between. This event is being repeated this year and will be even more intense, 250 miles in 14 days. Further to this he is also competing in this years London Marathon despite undergoing complex chemotherapy and only a year after a major operation. The boxing event will see ex-professional Rugby League players fighting each other, with Steve Collins acting as the referee. The players are to undergo a 10 week training programme to ensure their fitness and safety. Further to this, Herol Graham will be fighting current Salford player Robbie Paul (Only Robbie will be allowed to punch however). There will also be pre and after fight entertainment (detailed in poster) and should be a top night.
